Weekly Update

Greetings Riders,
Well, if you missed last week's newsletter about Father's Day Gift ideas, there is still time to do your shopping. There are even a couple items I might get for myself. Click Here to read the story and see some of my favorite ideas. From what I hear, the EZ Towels have already been a big hit with riders. You can still get your EZ Towels at Buddy Stubbs and Chester's HD for that under $10 gift that will really come in handy with the weather that we have on the way. If you like some of the other items listed, Buddy Stubbs, Chester's and Chandler HD are still offering the 15% discount to Readers in the Motorclothes Department from now through Sunday. Just tell them that you would like the 15% discount.
For those of you that attended the Hearts To Heroes event there is something that I would like to share with you and with everyone who might be reading this. You might remember Major Keith Turner, one of our servicemen that was interviewed on the live broadcast from Baghdad. He has been keeping in touch with me since the event via email and has even shared his personal journal with me. Reading this has taken my admiration and concern for all of our guys to another level. To hear him recount his days in Baghdad and mention that where he walks twice a day is where a man was just killed by random rockets into the green zone, shows you that there is no safe place in that country. His commitment to his service for our Country, and a glimpse into his spiritual side, which is what keeps him going over there, is truly inspiring. Even though I haven't met Maj. Turner in person, after reading his journal, it really makes me proud to know that we have him, and many others like him, standing in the gap for us. They are all truly our Heroes. I look forward to shaking his hand soon.
What I am going to share with you today was addressed to me, but it is really to all of the Cyclerides family that attended and/or supported the Hearts To Heroes event from afar. Maj. Turner and others somehow found a Harley-Davidson Baghdad beach towel and a an HD Baghdad ball cap, sporting the inscription "since. 2003". Not only did they round these up and send them to me, but they also wrote notes on the back of the towel, signed and dated it. You will see quotes from General Caldwell, Sgt. Ryan Kenner and Maj. Keith Turner, who happens to be from Prescott. Click Here to View.
My favorite quote of all is anonymous. It says, "Thanks for a special treat and making us all feel remembered. We'll Be Home Soon!" Amen to that. I was honored to receive such a great token of appreciation from the guys that we owe so much to. I have to admit that it was emotional for me to see what they had taken the time to do. And like I said, it is not just to me, it was for all of you that supported this event. Thanks to all of our military that are in harms way. We honor you and appreciate you very much and will keep you in our prayers. God Bless you all.
My plan is to frame this so that you can see both sides and display it in the local Harley Dealerships that would want to have it for a week at a time. You could then stop by and have your picture taken next to it. We will also have an edit of the complete Hearts To Heroes event including the ride around PIR done in the next couple of weeks. You will be able to purchase a copy of that at the same time this is displayed. Stay tuned for dates and times of the display.
Click Here for a picture of the beach towel and hat.
Click Here for photos and video from the event.
This year, a fellow motorcycle rider and musician, Larry Jensen attended the event and was moved to write a song entitled Hearts To Heroes in honor of those serving our country.
Click Here for a 2 minute photo video from the ride with his song.
I still have a few of the Hearts To Heroes shirts left. If you would like one Click Here to go to the online store to see what is available.

Next week I will be back with another Day Ride for you.
