Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
6/6/07
Greetings Riders,
Well, we are at that time of year when the trip meters are starting to spin and Father's
have their day. Yes, believe it or not 2007 is almost half over now
and Father's Day is right around the corner on June 17th. The good news is that if your Father/Husband is a motorcycle
rider, finding a gift for them couldn't be much easier. And if they happen to ride a Harley, the scope of potential
gifts just increased by a quite a bit given that HD is a master at engraving their logo on just about anything
that you can imagine.
As a Harley rider, I decided to take a trip down to Buddy Stubbs HD to see some
of the latest logo items and leave a list of potential gifts laying around
for Mrs. C. I also wanted to share with you some of the things that I use in my daily riding that I thought
might be cool gift ideas for your Father or Husband.
I will start with three of my favorite riding accessories that also happen to be the most expensive and work my way down. And then look to the bottom
for my favorite NEW gift idea under $10.
1. In-Ear
Monitors. My number one favorite gift idea would be the molded In-Ear
Monitors that I plug into my MP3 Player.
You have probably seen these hanging around my neck in pictures. Mrs. C. and I never go on a long trip without
them and I am now on my 3rd generation of these and they just keep getting better. The IEM's are molded specifically
to your ear, so they serve a dual purpose of keeping the wind noise out and placing perfect sounding music right
to your ear. They now come as a single driver and a dual driver monitor. I am currently using the dual driver which are
fantastic, but both are excellent. They run from $275 for the single driver to $375 for the dual driver. The good
news is AZ Ear Protection is now offering a 10% discount on these just for saying you are a Cyclerides.com
reader. Call Ron Ariela at 480-236-2997 or ron@motorcycletraining.com to arrange your fitting. Click Here for Website.
2. Garmin Quest GPS. I know you have seen and heard of
this from me several times before. But it is still one of my favorite travel tools. Can
I get anywhere in Arizona without it? I surely can. But it is really nice in those long stretches of open highway
to know exactly how far I am to my next stop. Also, in areas that I am not familiar with it has saved me more
than once from making a wrong turn and ending up far from where I needed to be, especially when you are second
guessing yourself about where the heck you are. Another nice feature is that you can find the nearest gas stations
or restaurants in the upcoming cities. The trip computer is also something I really enjoy. Click Here for my article
on the Garmin GPS. You can also order from that page. It comes priority mail and they ship immediately in plenty
of time for Father's Day.
3. Roady XT for XM Radio. This is a nice addition to entertainment
if you have a bagger with a radio. Just install the small Roady XT to
your fairing and plug it into your existing radio for over 160 channels of music, comedy and even FOX News and
CNN. You can even plug your headphones into the XT for optimum sound. Cost is around $12.95 per month for the service
and $50 to as low as free for the radio. Click Here for my article
on the Roady XM Radio.
As I walked through the dealership I was looking for items that would
make particularly good simple gift items. I will break them down by
price. Each item will have a link to a picture of it. Of course there are many more in the stores, these are just
the ones that caught my eye. Check your local participating dealer for availability. See Below.

Favorite New Product Under $10:
The
EZ Towel. This is one of the greatest new product ideas I have seen in quite
a while. When riding many miles during a day you are bound to get a
little road dirt on your face and hands along the way. Some carry Wet Wipes or something similar. The problem is,
the Wet Wipes usually aren't wet when you need them to be. After a few weeks in the saddle bags they will dry out.
The EZ Towel gets wet when you need it. EZ Towels are durable, full-sized towels made of 100% Rayon. The
EZ Towels are compressed to the size of a nickel and come 50 to a pack for $9.95, all you need to do is add water
and watch it grow! Once the EZ Towel is activated, simply unroll and unfold and it becomes an 8 1/2 in.
X 9 1/2 in. towel that is ready for use. EZ Towels are soft, durable, and bio-degradable. Click Here for a 40 second video demonstration of the EZ Towel in action from Tammy at Buddy Stubbs.
When we are on the road we always carry a bottle of water with us, so it would be no
problem to have a disposable wet towel in seconds. It also comes
with a little plastic tube that holds 10 towels for you to carry with you. The tube is small and easy to
carry in your saddlebags or windshield bags. To my knowledge, the only place you can get these are at Buddy Stubbs
and Chester's HD. They just got their shipment of 60 bags in today. My guess is they will soon be gone. Click
