Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
5/21/08

Greetings Riders,

The editorial today is going to be brief due to a rather large computer crisis this morning. As I was already late in getting out the newsletter I started smelling what seemed like burnt wires. You know, "Smelly Wires", much more offensive than "Smelly Bikers". Knowing that burning wire probably isn't a good thing to be smelling when setting next to the computer, I had the presence of mind to at least email to myself the newsletter which was complete except for the editorial portion that you are reading now, so that I could retrieve all of the work that I had already done on my laptop. I shut off the computer, and checked the power supply to find that it had burnt out. That's easy enough to fix, but when I put a new one in and turned it on, I soon found out that it must have also fried the motherboard in the process. A much bigger problem. So I went directly to "Plan B", once I figured out what Plan B was.

Now the real work will begin trying to get that back up to speed with my original hard drive. Those of you that have gone through this know what I mean. But at least I have the laptop, was able to receive my own email with the newsletter and get what I can out to you. So the rest will be brief.

Last week's newsletter prompted one of the largest responses that I have ever had to a letter. If you haven't read it, Click Here to Read. The video in particular incited everyone to a point of anger and disbelief. A lot of you wondered how I kept my cool in that situation. The short answer is that it was hard, but it was also the only course of action at that point. I didn't have to make that lady look stupid, she did a fine job all on her own. So I let her. But what is hard to describe is the rotten feeling I had walking away. It was truly disgusting to be standing 10 feet away from that poor excuse for humanity and listening to those bile words in person. If you missed the video, Click Here to View. I will warn you, it is hard to watch.

But the good news is that the newsletter has been passed all over the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan, to show the sinister acts of these wackos, but more importantly to show the world the awesome work that the Patriot Guard Riders are doing for our troops in response to these protesters. Like I said before, because of these severely misguided, morally corrupted people, GOOD Americans have once again risen to a higher level to counteract EVIL. A common scenario that has been played out many times before in the history of this country. Thank you to all across this nation that participate in the Patriot Guard and all others that support our troops.

I do want to share an email with you from a Cyclerides Newsletter reader in response to last week. He sums this up and puts it about as well as it can be said to reflect most of our feelings.

Wow Barry,
What can you say when you see someone like that, my emotions are running all over the place, makes you want to just smack 'em up side the head and hope that whatever is stuck gets knocked loose, and it makes you feel sorry for them to be that ignorant as to the true Word of God's message, and it's confusing to see that they have that much hate in their hearts while claiming to know God's love, to condemn us to hell while at the same time preaching that their trying to save us, I mean how can a human mind be expected to process something like that?

I do want to commend you for your patience, it must have been hard to stand there and experience it first hand, BUT thank GOD we live in a country where we can be ignorant and still speak our tiny minds and where SMELLY BIKERS have the right to shield and protect grieving families from stupidity and ignorance. Hopefully you were able to get the slime off you I figure a couple hundred miles in the wind should do the trick.

Thanks.

Maverick

Thanks to everyone for your replies to last week's letter. I will get you answered as soon as I get my computer back up and running. As long as there are "Smelly Bikers", there will be support for our troops and all that is good in America.

If you are riding this weekend, be safe and ride around the thunderstorms.

Thanks,

Barry
