Estrella Ranch To Arlington

If you are looking for a ride out into the countryside with some mountain views and a ride through the agricultural areas, this is a good relaxing ride with little traffic.

This week's Day Ride takes us down South by Phoenix International Raceway, through Estrella Mountain Ranch, through Buckeye and then out around Arlington. This ride will take you off the beaten path and into the agricultural areas of the valley area. Estrella Pkwy. is a little known jewel in the SW part of the Valley. A beautiful road and very pretty area. This is a neat little ride that will get you out of city and into agricultural areas that are begging to be ridden through. You will see many hay bales and dairy farms on this ride. It is a relatively short ride that will only take you about 2.5 hours to complete. Depending on where you live, I rode the same route in reverse coming home.

Distance: 70 miles

Riding Time: Approx. 2.5 hours

Go South on 115th Ave. 6 miles to Phoenix International Raceway.

Continue on around the corner till you reach the end of the road where you have to turn right on 143rd Ave.

Continue on 143 rd. Ave as it winds around to Estrella Parkway. 143rd Ave. Turns into Vineyard Rd. at Estrella Pkwy. You will go past Estrella Mountain Regional Park and the Golf Course.

Continue on Elliot Rd to Tuthill Rd. Turn right on Tuthill Rd. and go 2 miles to the first stop light which is Hwy. 85 and turn left. There is not street sign on that intersection.
Follow Hwy. 85 for 8 miles through Liberty and Buckeye. This is your best opportunity for food and refreshments. If you are hungry or thirsty stop in Buckeye.

Turn left on Hwy. 85 and go 2 miles to Old Hwy. 80. You will see a sign that says Palo Verde, Hassayampa, Arlington. Turn right on Old Hwy. 80.

Old Hwy. 80 will take you in a 22 mile circle through Palo Verde, Hassayampa and Arlington. to Patterson Rd. If you get thirsty you can take a trip back in time at the Desert Rose Bar and Grill. It is basically the only thing in Arlington on Old Hwy. 80.

You will go through some twistys, a small mesa, a one lane bridge and the old Patterson Dam. Turn left on Patterson Rd. that will take you back to Hwy. 85. Turn left on Hwy 85 to get you back to I-10 or to retrace your original route.

An option on this ride would be to continue on Old Hwy 80 that would take you Gila Bend. If you don't want to do that, it is fun to just take Hwy. 85 back to Buckeye and retrace the route the other way. If that is not an option I-10 is just 5 miles from Buckeye for a quick trip home.

My Review Of This Ride:

This is a neat little ride that will get you out of city and into agricultural areas that are begging to be ridden through. You will see many hay bales and dairy farms on this ride. It is a relatively short ride that will only take you about 2.5 hours to complete. It is a low stress very relaxing ride through a little bit different scenery than you are used to.

Conclusion: I give this ride 3.5 Spokes out of 5
