RALLY IN THE ROCKIES GEARING UP FOR INAUGURAL RALLY

The inaugural Rally In The Rockies to be held Ignacio, Colorado, over Labor Day Weekend is gearing up to bring a solid motorcycle rally back to the Four Corners Region.

"We are really excited about gettinmg the party started," said Rally In The Rockies organizer Dan Bradshaw. "We've been working real hard to put together a program of events that will be a good time and make people want to come back next year. Labor Day is going to be a lot of fun in the Four
Corners."

The rally was created last year after the Four Corners Ironhorse Rally failed to stage an event in 2002. Rally In The Rockies will be held at the Sky Ute Events Center, as were past Rallies.

"We've been scheduled in the same place for a while now, and as far as I know, there are no other events scheduled at the events center that weekend," Bradshaw said.

The rally costs $45 for four days, which grants entry to the events center, entry in all poker runs, access to the car and bike show in Durango, a chance to win four motorcycles, and other good stuff. Single and two-day tickets are also available for $15 to $35.

Many rumors are still circulating about Rally In The Rockies. Bradshaw assures none of them are true.

"There will be beer and other alcohol available at the rally," he said. Budwieser is one sponsor providing beer, and a local brewery, Steamworks, is another. There will also be wine and other bottled drinks available. It wouldn't be much of a rally without being able to get something cold to drink, would it?"

Bradshaw put to rest stories of police interference with the rally.

"We have a good relationship with local law enforcement," he said. "police will certainly be enforcing the laws here, but I don't believe there will be any targeting of bikers for special attention during the rally weekend."

All motorcyclists, including those riding with clubs, are welcome at the rally, period.

"We're not going to exclude anyone, including the clubs - 1% or otherwise," Said Bradshaw. "This event is open to the entire motorcycle community. Members of motorcycle clubs are part of our community, and they are just as welcome here as everyone else. We'd like to see them come to the mountains for a weekend of riding and fun with us."

And what about nudity?

"We don't care who shows how much at the rally," Bradshaw said. "If people want to show off a little, that's fine. The rule posted on our website is directed towards the local drunkards who harass women about flashing and generally get obnoxious and out of line. We won't tolorate that. But if someone, male or female, wants to flash a little something, we don't mind. The rally is about being free and cutting loose a little."

"Everyone is welcome to come here and have a good time, as long as they respect the rules," Bradshaw said. "The rules basically are: don't do anything illegal, don't get hurt, ride safe, and above all, have a good time."
