In July of 2007 two news helicopters collided mid-air and crashed while reporting on a police chase in Phoenix, killing all four men aboard the choppers, on the same day that a Phoenix police officer was shot and killed during an arrest. Cyclerides.com partnered with Channel 3 to organize a memorial ride to honor the men lost in the helicopter crash and to raise money for the family of the fallen officer at the same time. The ride also gave riders around the valley a chance to show their support for 3 TV and to thank them for being a great friend to the motorcycle community.
