Fire On the Mogollon (Rodeo/Chediski)

Written by D.Moore/G.Brunson

Verse 1
There's a fire burning hot up on the Mogollon
deep in the forest where we call our home
The Man said we had one hour to get our things and go
just what will be here when you come back nobody knows

Verse 2
Momma grabbed the bible and the pictures off the wall
she filled the car with the important things but she couldn't fit them all
I can still see her troubled eyes as she tried to make up her mind
just what we should take with us and what to leave behind..

Chorus:
(the man said) fly! fly! the devil's inside the Rodeo and the Chediski
fires that burn out of control
God bless those behind who fight the flames and hold the line
and give their all to save our home.. on the Mogollon

Verse 3
We watched the news everyday from the shelter at 5 O'clock and 10
they told us to hang in there we're doing the best we can
Somebody said the President's here but it's hard to get information
Is our home still there or is it gone.. the hardest part is not knowing..

Chorus:
fly! fly! the devils inside the Rodeo and the Chediski
fires that burn out of control
God bless those behind who fight the flames and hold the line
and give their all to save our home.. on the Mogollon

Bridge:
Walking through the ashes when the smoke had cleared
For every house that burned down a thousand are still here!
Momma hung the pictures back on the wall
that devil fire didn't get us all
We owe our thanks to unsung Heroes!!

Chorus:
fly! fly! the devils inside the Rodeo and the Chediski
fires that burn out of control
God bless those behind who fight the flames and hold the line
and give their all to save our home.. on the Mogollon
