Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
8/9/06

Greetings Riders,

Well, after 2 weeks away and an 8 day, 2500 mile road trip we are now safely back home.
When I left you last week we were in Great Falls, MT getting ready to run the Beartooth Pass just outside of Red Lodge, MT that straddles Montana and Wyoming. In case you missed last weeks letter, here is the picture page. I had heard a lot about this ride and was not disappointed in the ride at all. However, the weather could have been a little better as we hit rain and temps as low as 53 degrees with rain and heavy wind at 11,000 feet. We continued on to the Chief Joseph Highway and then into Cody, WY. for the night.

The next day took us North out of Cody through the
Bighorn National Forest through Sheridan and eventually into Spearfish and Deadwood for the night. We spent the next 3 days exploring the great riding of the Black Hills including Mt. Rushmore, Needles Highway and the Sturgis Rally. We didn't get to do every road in the area, but what we did was really an enjoyable experience.

As most of you know that have been gone for 2 weeks at a time, it takes a few days to catch up, and that is what I am doing now.
I took over 1800 photos on this trip and will start the process of sorting through them and displaying the ones that I will share with you. There are so many great photos that it will be hard to leave any out, but I will do my best to get you a good look at the landscape. Next week I will start with the first couple of days of the trip including Banff and work my way to Sturgis and the Black Hills in the next couple of weeks. So get ready to sit back and enjoy this trip from Spokane to Sturgis via Banff as seen from the front seat of the 13 month old yellow Road Glide that turned over 15,000 miles on this trip.

Riding season for us is just around the corner when lots of dealership open houses, parties and rides will soon be happening.
I have extended the Ride Calendar out to December and have begun adding rides for those time frames and will be adding more in the next few days.

I once again want to thank everyone that emailed me with tips for the trip.
I appreciate that and used as many as I could. If I haven't gotten back to you I apologize, it is just because I am still wading through the mound of emails that greeted me when I returned.
