Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
8/2/06

Greetings Riders,

I am coming to you tonight from a Hampton Inn in Great Falls, Montana. As planned, we left Spokane, Washington at about 10am Monday morning. We traveled 325 miles and arrived in Banff, Alberta Canada at around 7pm to some of the most stunning mountains and scenery that I have ever seen. The Canadian Rockies really are magnificent. Banff certainly lived up to all of the hype. We spent Tuesday taking a 225 mile roundtrip ride to the Columbian Ice Fields, to Chateau Lake Louise for lunch and Moraine Lake. Wow! Lake Louise is really something else. We then headed back to Banff for a trip up the Gondola, to Banff Springs Hotel and out to dinner. Today (Wednesday) we hoofed it from Banff, through Calgary, and then half way through the baron land of Northern Montana, 455 miles in all to Great Falls. We will get an early start on Thursday for another 400 plus mile ride through the Lewis and Clark National Forest on our way to Red Lodge, the Beartooth Pass and the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway possibly ending in Cody, Wyoming. Friday we will ride on in to Sturgis for some highly anticipated riding in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The way it looks already, I will have to stop and buy another 2gb SD card for the camera to accommodate all the pictures that I have taken and plan to take.

There wasn't much going on for August as far as events are concerned, but I have just added a few new ones. Take a look at the August calendar on www.cyclerides.com . Thanks to all of you that have sent in suggestions for our trip. I have already implemented a few of your suggestions. If you have sent in a classified, it probably won't be put online until next week sometime.

I'll be back next week with a recap of the trip and some more pictures. If I can, I might send out a special email with some pics of the Beartooth pass and Cody.

Thanks,
Barry
