Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
8/15/07
Greetings Riders,
I want to thank you for all of the replies on the Hwy. 12 story in the newsletter last
week. If you were on your way back from Sturgis and didn't get a chance
to see it, Click
Here to read.
There are also 270 photos for you to view as well. I have already heard that there have been last minute changes
on some planned rides to include this route, and others have been motivated to plan a ride to include this
beautiful National Scenic Byway. I'm sure you will enjoy.
This Saturday, August 18th is the Chopper's Memorial Ride sponsored by myself with Cyclerides.com
and Scott Pasmore with 3TV. If you have not read my newsletter about
this event, Click
Here. The interest in this ride has been incredible. There
have been over 3500 page views of the flyer in the last 12 days and I have heard of people that are riding in from
Yuma and Tucson just to attend this event. My biggest concern right now is where we are going to put everybody.
But we have been working with the Phoenix and Glendale PD to create a safe and enjoyable ride. It should be
a fun and high energy time.
Staging will be on 7th Ave. in front of 3TV located at 5555 N. 7th Ave. from 7am - 9am.
There will be volunteers meet you at your bike to sign a release and collect
the $20 per bike donation. Please have exact change so as to
make the sign-in process go as fast as possible. You will also
receive your Memorial sticker at this time while supplies last. There will be some donuts and bottled water available
at the station. But, it is going to be hot that day and we will have limited supplies, so I would suggest to bring your own bottle of water as well for the ride in case we run out. Bathroom facilities will not be available at the station,
so please take care of that before you arrive. Facilities will be available at Westgate.
Bruce Hafner will be in attendance riding Scott Bowerbanks Triumph that he had just
purchased 2 months ago. Tiffany Cortez, the widow of George Cortez will
be riding on the back with one of George's best friends from the Phoenix PD, and of course Scott Pasmore will be
there representing the Chopper's on his Paul Yaffe Chopper. Tim & Willy from KNIX will also be riding with
us. For those of you that cannot make the event, 3TV will be doing live shots all morning from the station as well
as at Westgate. The 12 mile route will then head West on Bethany Home Rd. to 83rd Ave., North on 83rd to Glendale
Ave., West on Glendale to 93rd Ave. to Westgate City Center. If you can't make the ride, you can stand on the side
of the road and watch the bikes go by.
At Westgate we have a stage set up by the fountains and many of the 3TV personalities
will be there including Scott, Tara, Olivia, Royal, Patty, Bruce and
many others. Each of them will say a few words of thanks to all in attendance. Tiffany Cortez will also be on stage
to thank everyone for their support and receive your donations.
Pictures and video from the event will be in next week's newsletter. Join 6400 other riders and sign up for the Cyclerides.com Weekly Update to see these photos
and receive recent news, videos, photos and editorials that are not on the site, Click Here.
I look forward to seeing you this Saturday. Be sure to come up and say Hello!
Scott and I both thank you for your support of this event,
Barry

This Week
Saturday, August 18th.
Chopper's
Memorial Ride. Staging will be at the 3TV station located at 5555 N.
7th Ave. in Phoenix from 7am - 9am. We will then take a short escorted
ride to Westgate City Center located at 93rd Ave. and Glendale where there will be a stage and sound system
set up so that the personalities at 3TV can address the crowd and give their thanks for all of the support you
have given them through this difficult time. They are truly astounded and appreciative of all the love and support
they have gotten and are eager to give their thanks to everyone who attends.
At this early stage there are commitments from Scott Pasmore, Tara Hitchcock, Olivia, Patty Kirkpatrick, Royal
Norman and Bruce Hafner. The families of Jim Cox and Scott
Bowerbank will also be there. I'm sure there will be many more of the on air and behind the scenes 3TV people in
attendance. Tiffany Cortez, widow of George Cortez and her kids will also be in attendance. So you will be
able to pass on your condolences to her as well. The beginning and end of the ride will be shown LIVE on Channel
3. So be prepared, you might be interviewed. Donation will be $20 per
Bike that will include a sticker like the graphic that
you see on the flyer. All brands of motorcycles are invited. If you don't ride, you can meet the ride at Westgate
and give a donation there. Click Here for the flyer and details.
I look forward to your help in making this a huge turnout for both 3TV and the George Cortez family. This is a
great cause and should be a fun time. If there is a good reason to get the bike out of the garage at this
time of year, this is it. See you there. Click Here for the video of Scott announcing the ride on 3TV.

Extras
This one is hilarious! And the people
laughing in the background make it even more funny. It
proves you can train a dolphin to do just about anything. It is called, "What happens in Sea World, Stays
in Sea World". Click Here to View.
This one shows that modeling can be a dangerous job. When these
models get to swaying their money maker back and forth it is hard to stay up on those tall platform shoes.
Once again, the background laughing is contagious. Click Here to View.
Here is one of those that says: "It
is hard to be cool when". Click Here to View.
I had this one in a couple of years ago,
but it has made the rounds again and it made me laugh again. You can never go wrong with a good practical joke
video, especially with chimps. Click Here to View.
