Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
5/17/06

Greetings Riders,

Well, it is now obvious that the Cyclerides.com Weekly Update is a powerful piece of journalism that has influence and reaches all the way to Washington DC. Shortly after my letter last week entitled "Time To Think", calling for action on illegal immigration, President Bush called a news conference to address the issue, even embracing the idea of putting troops on the border. He didn't exactly mention the Cyclerides newsletter by name, but we all knew what he meant when he indicated that there were many who wanted to see action taken with this problem. It must have been the letter that vaulted him into action and even encouraged him to make a visit to Arizona to see the issue for himself. Later, when asked about the Cyclerides newsletter he admitted to having read it and studied the 3 point proposal finding it to be very helpful in formulating his speech that night.

Riiiiiiighhht! And if you believe that story, I've got some swamp land in Florida. But, timing IS everything, and it was ironic that all of this came down right after the letter.

Most of you know by now that the crew from Orange County Choppers are making a return visit to Tempe to kick off their all new OCC In America 2006 Live Tour. Being a part of putting this event together I almost forget how exciting this is all going to be. But the reality of it all hit when I was talking to the driver of the OCC truck when he was in route to deliver the first 8 OCC theme bikes for the show. Especially when he told me what was on the truck. Ever since they did the Shuttle Bike for NASA I had been looking forward to seeing this one in person. So I went to take a sneak peak at all of them this week and my excitement level took a huge leap. I got an up close and personal look (even sat on a few of them and tried them on for size) at Junior's Dream Bike, The Gillette Bike, The NY Yankees Bike, The David Mann Bike, The I-Robot Bike, The Black Widow and of course The Shuttle Bike. Wow! What incredible works of art.

I have to say that seeing them in person, is way better than what you see on TV. There is so much detail in these bikes, that it is impossible to see it all in a few minutes on the show. The Shuttle Bike is great with the spinners on the front wheel that are 3 little shuttles that spin around a hub painted like the globe. Another really cool feature is the gas tank on Junior's Dream Bike that also doubles as the rear fender. And of course, the Fireman Bike, The P.O.W. Bike and 8 others are on their way to make an appearance at the show. There will be 18 in all. Three of the four Fantasy Bike Builds will also be there all weekend for you to view. Here is an interesting twist for you baseball fans. Paul Yaffe will be there with the Arizona Diamondbacks bike that he built. And OCC will be there with the Yankees bike. This is shaping up to be a World Series of motorcycles.

This year, the autograph lines are gone and will be replaced by 2 live shows on Saturday and Sunday that will feature the entire cast of OCC as you would see them on the show. There will be interaction with the crowd, clips from the show on the giant Jumbotron screen and a bike build on stage that will be given to some lucky fan Sunday night. In between the live shows, the cast will go to the "OCC Garage" for some more interaction with the fans as a few members of the cast, including Junior, will give a 45 minute seminar on their expertise complete with big screens on each side of the stage to give everyone a good look at what they are doing. I have seen the script of this show and it is very entertaining.

In addition to the Cast of OCC and their TV Theme bikes will be The OCC In America Custom Motorcycle Show. This is always a huge hit with the crowd. This year we have some incredible bikes that have entered the show. You will not be disappointed in what you will see here. The total prize money is $5000 dollars that will be split between 2 winners. The Teutuls will judge and pick one winner, and the public will pick one winner. Who knows? That could in fact be the same bike. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Musical entertainment will feature the debut of the OCC Band on Saturday night at 8:00 pm. This will be the first time that the OCC Band will appear in public. You might even catch Mikey singing some Sinatra. They will be followed by Metalhead. Sunday night the headliner are The Outlaws. For those of you that lived through the 70's would recognize this band and their famous tunes "Green Grass and High Tides" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky". This should be a great Southern Rock evening. Monday there will be live entertainment all day and motorcycle viewing. Discovery Channel will be at the show all weekend filming the event to be shown on future episodes of American Chopper.

The venue is downtown Tempe from Rio Salado to 3rd St. on Mill Ave. and both sides of the street in the U.S. Air, Monti's and the Mission Palms parking lot. The times are from 11:00am every day closing at 11:00pm on Saturday and Sunday and 6:00pm on Sunday. There will be plenty of vendors, food and drink on hand for your enjoyment. The main gate will be located at 3rd and Mill. There will be 2 other gates located on the Mill Ave. and Rio as well as on the West side of the venue by the U.S. Air parking garage for those that have pre-purchased tickets. I would recommend getting your tickets on-line to avoid the long lines that are purchasing tickets at the gate. If you already have a ticket there is just a scan of it and you are in. Click Here for tickets. Weekend tickets are available. Motorcycle parking only will be on Mill Ave. South of 5th St.

We have had several conference calls with OCC the last couple of weeks and they are really excited to come back to Tempe to kick off their OCC In America 2006 Live Tour. I really think this is going to be a fun, entertaining, high energy time for all ages. Children under age 10 are free. If you are going to be in other parts of the U.S. this year you can also catch the show in Spokane, WA. July 27-29, Nashville, TN. October 6-8 and Austin, TX. October 27-29. The early indication is that the Spokane stop is already looking like it is going to be a huge turnout. There were a thousand people that turned out for a radio station promotion at a bike night that was giving away free tickets to the show.

I will have a Cyclerides.com booth where I will be hanging out when not attending to other duties at the event. Stop by and say hello. I will have a few thousand Cyclerides pens to give away. Look forward to seeing you there.
