Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
Well, the countdown is now on for the Cyclerides.com Hearts To Heroes ride. 60 hours from the time that I am writing this, our United States Military around the world will be seeing that Arizona motorcycle riders do care about our armed forces and are here to support them. Preparations and programming are now in the final stages and seem to be getting bigger as each day goes by. We are still shooting and editing some video, but all should be in place for the walkthrough of the hour long program on Friday night. You can watch TV 3 on Thursday morning at 8:00am as we will be on talking about the ride, TV 5 at 5:40am on Thursday and possibly on TV 10 on Friday morning. TV 5 is scheduled to film us as we ride into PIR and around the track. New development: We will now be riding into PIR, around the track and then on to parade in front of Luke Air Force base on our way to Westgate. If you would like your kids and family to participate in this event, have them line the streets in front of Luke AFB and Glendale Ave. See details below.
Just as an FYI, there have been almost 4000 page views of the Hearts To Heroes ride flyer on the site. This is many many times more than the usual ride, which will probably translate into a very large attendance. I would suggest planning on getting there early as the program goes live at exactly 9:30am. We will have 20 people taking registration so it should go fast. There will be pastries, water and coffee available at CCV starting at 7am.
As you know by now, the Pentagon Channel is going to be broadcasting the entire program at CCV to every military installation in the world, every cable company that carries the station as well as being streamed live on their web site at http://www.pentagonchannel.mil/. So if you are out of the area, or can't make the event, you can watch it on your computer. There are also other National media outlets that are starting to take an interest in this event. I have been told that it is possible that the FOX & Friends show on the FOX News Channel is considering airing part of the event live as well. This is a great opportunity for all of us to be a part of something unprecedented in our area and very rewarding for everyone involved. It will be a time to honor our troops and to make ourselves feel good by doing what little we can at home to make their lives a little better in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Just so that you can know how real this is for these guys, here is a quote via email from General Caldwell himself, with whom we will be speaking via satellite on Saturday.
"What and you and your folks are doing is an inspiration to us all. Seeing our troops receiving these packages is a very humbling experience. We cannot thank you enough for the difference these packages make to our servicemen and women. It is indeed an honor to be invited to be a part of sharing our story from Iraq. I am looking forward to the opportunity and know our troopers are as equally excited about sharing their stories."
CCV holds 3000 people. I would love to show the rest of the world that Arizona motorcycle riders are the best and are doing their part to support our troops. If you only get out once a year on your bike, make it this day and bring a friend. You will be doing a good thing for yourself and our troops.
How can you help?
The ride route has now changed. We will be riding into PIR, taking our lap around the track and right back out. We will then go West and then North to parade in front of Luke Air Force Base before heading East on Glendale Ave. to Westgate. If you work at Luke AFB or are a family member of any military person, please put out the word to line the streets in front of Luke and on Glendale Ave. by 11:30am on Saturday morning to greet the riders. If you are riding and want your kids and family to participate, have them go to the same locations at Luke and sit on the side of the road as well with their flags in hand. This will make a great reception for all of us riding by the base and will be a good lesson in patriotism for the kids. Click Here for the ride route. Please have a flag attached to your bike if possible, no matter how small.
