Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
1/22/03
Greetings Riders,
What beautiful weather for riding. We really need to soak this up before
the dreaded triple digits show up. There haven't been many motorcycle events lately but there sure has been a lot
of car related things to do. Between the Barrett-Jackson auction, the World of Wheels and the Boat Show the previous
weekend I have spent about $400,000 out of my imaginary piggy bank on toys. It is really fun, and frustrating, for
and old motorhead to go look at some of the fully restored cars that are now selling for $50,000 that are
the very same cars that we used to drive the snot out of and then park next to the barn and let rust
to the ground. I never imagined that these cars would be worth so much. If only we would have had those 30
years forward looking goggles on.
I am always interested in trying to improve rides and events in any way that I can. Whether
it is by advising ride promoters, businesses or passing on feedback that I get from the riders. To take this more
widespread I have started the Cyclerides.com Weekly Survey on the site. This week's question is "What Do You
Feel Is A Reasonable Price To Pay For A Charity Ride?" I have several different possibilities of answers for
you to choose from. Once you choose your answer and click vote, you will be taken to the results page to see how
the other riders have voted. You can only vote once per poll question, but you can come back as often as you would
like and click the Current Results button at the bottom of the poll to see how the voting is going.
I will have various questions on future polls that will include the
type of food you would like at rides, your favorite day for rides, product polls, ratings of events, favorite photo
polls, quick polls about current events, questions from businesses, etc. Whatever will help us improve our riding
experiences. I would also invite you to email me with your ideas about what you would like to see discussed. The
polls will be open for 4-5 days. I might even sometimes have concurrent polls going that are related. So check
back often and see what the new question is. I will then have a new section in the newsletter that will report
the final results of the polls. Hopefully this will help organizers of rides and businesses know what we are
looking for as riders that participate. To log your vote go to the front
page of www.cyclerides.com . That is where the poll will always
be. Click the button for your answer and then click the Vote button to see the results.
There are a few rides that are still a few weeks out that I want to preview because in some cases there is
limited space available.
March 1st is the 1st
Annual Arizona Bike Week "Ride To The Suns". The cost is $20 per person and you get a ticket to the Suns Vs. Hornets game, a Visor, Ride
Pin, and secured parking on the street behind the arena. There will be pre and post game parties with lots of giveaways.
Tickets are limited and can be bought at any of the Harley dealerships as well as Metro Motorsports and Town and
Country Motorsports. Tickets are limited. Proceeds to the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Bike Week Charities Foundation. Now this
sounds like a good deal to me. I will be there.
March 8th is The Diamondbacks
Line Drive For Kids. Cost is
$30.00 per rider and participants receive: Breakfast, Lunch, Event T-Shirt, Spring Training Game Ticket and Ride
Pin. This ride is limited to 500 Participants. You can sign up online at the above link. This ride is always a good time.
I have been to 2 out of the last 3 and will probably go this year.

15th Annual Greasewood Poker Run. Pre
registration price is $15 per person, $20 day of ride. Includes BBQ or Chicken Lunch (Hey Buck, thanks for adding
the chicken), ride pin, poker run and...music by Mogollon. Now you can't beat that. I will definitely be there
for that one. Click the above link for pre registration and information.

Extras
It is always sad when someone in our riding community is affected in some adverse way. It seems to affect us all, even if we didn't know them. But many of you do know Myron Larrabee, owner of Easyrider's and The Billet Bar. He has been around the valley and motorcycles for over 30 years . This past Friday his wife Cindi unexpectedly passed away during the night at their home. Mrs. C. and I have known Myron for the last 3 years and we want to personally pass along our condolences to Myron and his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Here is
the obituary as it was posted in the Arizona Republic:
Cindi Faulkinbury Larrabee, 48,
born Aug. 29, 1954 in Chicago and moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1969, unexpectedly passed away Jan. 18, 2003. She
was a woman full of love, compassion and vitality that embraced life each day. Her vibrant and warm smile will
be missed by all who knew her. Cindi was actively engaged as a true partner with her husband in running their three
businesses, Easy Rider, The Billet Bar and World Gym Fitness. She is survived by her husband Myron, mother, Del
Faulkinbury and brother, Gary Faulkinbury. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 24, 2003 at 11:00 A.M.
at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale.
Just a reminder to check out the Classifieds on the site. There are a lot of bikes and parts to choose from right now. If you have something on there that has sold please email me and let me know.
Enjoy your week of riding and the big Super Bowl this weekend. If you want to watch it with other riders check out the site for those places having Super Bowl Parties. I'll take Tampa Bay in a close game.
Until
Next Week,
Blessings and Safe Riding To All,
Barry
