Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
12/19/12

Greetings Riders,

First of all this week, Mrs. C. and I would like to offer our condolences to those who lost loved ones in Newtown, CT. It is so hard to even imagine the grief that these parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and friends must be going through right now. Having a small grandchild, and once again enjoying the innocence of children, it is heartbreaking that the parents of these 20 young souls will no longer be able to enjoy the loves of their lives. May God truly bless these parents and give them strength and comfort at this impossible time.

This whole thing will now no doubt turn into a gun control push again. There are valid points about gun control on both sides of the fence. While I am not in favor of taking everyone’s guns by any means, that would not be right or constitutional, I don’t see why anyone needs to have clips for semi automatic and assault weapons that hold 20, 50 or even 100 rounds. Those are only used to kill people, not for hunting.

Speaking of Children, Cole Kiburz was at the Cyclerides.com Toys to Kids event on December 1st and shot a lot of video. He took that and turned it into an awesome edited video that really shows how excited these kids are to attend this event. It even has the performance by Tim and Willy in it. If you went, you will truly enjoy this recap. If you didn’t, this is your chance to enjoy a bit of Christmas through the eyes of a child. Click Here to view. I think everyone will enjoy.

I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that a lot of us lost a good friend and a great ambassador to the motorcycle community. Last Thursday night, Charley Vidal lost his battle with cancer and passed away in his home at 11:30 PM. I was fortunate to have stopped by his house the previous Friday to see him while he was still able to have visitors. He was in a lot of pain, but that didn’t stop that big smile that was his trademark from showing up as I walked in the door. We reminisced about the last 10 years that we had known each other, about motorcycles and planes. It was good to be able to visit with him one last time. The good news is that he is no longer in pain and is in a better place. We still have his memories to hold on to. Thanks for all you have done Charley, you will be missed by many. Our condolences to his lovely wife Kathy and the family. A memorial will be held after the first of the year. I will announce it in the newsletter as soon as I know the date.

As I mentioned in the letter last week, the last half of December is when I try to wind down a bit, to restore my creative juices by giving them a break, and enjoy the Christmas season with friends and family. To help me accomplish this I will give you any breaking news or tidbits I come across. Last week I went into the archives and dug out an oldie but goodie that I wrote in 2002 about picking the best line to check out in while shopping. I’m sure everyone will appreciate this one. Until next week. Happy Shopping!
