Weekly Update

Greetings Riders,

If you missed the newsletter last week about downloading Google Maps on your phone, Click Here to View. If for some reason the email does not make it to your inbox, you can always view it online at

As I mentioned in the newsletter last week, I will be scaling back the editorial part of the newsletter while things are a little slow this month, however, I will still have some tidbits and the upcoming events will still be listed below as usual.

Last week I gave you the tip on how to download maps onto your Google Maps on your phone to use while traveling in areas without cell service. This week I wanted to share a little tip on how I now take photos from my bike with my cell phone. I've had several cameras in the past that I have used for taking photos riding, but now our cell phones take as good or better photos than a point and shoot camera. So I am now exclusively using my Galaxy S9+ to take all of my photos on our trips. But as you probably know, unless you are a passenger, it is pretty hard to take a photo when riding if you have to push that little white button on the screen. I found a great solution for that and have taken a couple thousand photos this way.

Here is the tip:
hat I did was simply get a bluetooth remote control shutter button for my phone. It pairs instantly with your phone and will control the shutter button up to 30 feet away. Click Here to View. It is also good for those selfies when your arm is not long enough. What I do is put a piece of Velcro on the back of the shutter button and on the top of my throttle control right above the switches on the motorcycle. So when I am riding, I can hold my phone with my left hand and point it anywhere I want, then click the shutter button with my thumb while I am riding. Click Here for the installation on motorcycle. It is in the perfect position to click with your thumb while using the throttle.  In fact, most of the time I will just point the phone in the direction of what I want the photo of without looking and click the button. It usually always ends up really good and is an easy and safer way to take the shot.
You can also use the shutter button if you use a tripod and want to do a group shot. See on Amazon.

Another excellent option for you is to get a fold up tripod/selfie stick that comes with a shutter button already attached to it. This expands from 8 inches all the up to 40 inches. This is easy to store or carry and can come in handy if you are on a trip and want to be in one of those beautiful landscape shots.
I ordered mine off of Amazon. Here is the link.

I have used both of these with much success. Enjoy an easier way to take photos.

Hope these little tips come in handy for you sometime.
