Cyclerides.com Weekly Update

11/6/02

Greetings Riders,
What a beautiful weekend for riding. Mrs. Cyclerides and I took advantage of it by visiting Hacienda for the first day of their free breakfast on the patio. It's hard to pass up free food. Then it was on to AZ Thunder with the other hundreds of riders for the free food and Pets Portrait day. Then by Easyriders/Billet and to Charleston's on the patio for a late lunch. After that was a spin through North Scottsdale and Cave Creek. It was so nice we were inventing reasons to stay out.

You might notice that the newsletter is coming a little early this week and will be somewhat abbreviated on commentary. There is a good reason for that. Many of you asked what I do for a living. I have had people ask me if all I do is ride every day, or if I was independently wealthy, or even if I was retired. Unfortunately none of those are true. I just use every available moment I can find in between my real job to keep the site fresh, informative and interesting. It has taken an incredible amount of time to keep it to the standards that I require but I have enjoyed it very much. And I hope you have too.

What is that real job? About 5 years ago I developed a product called Hat Saver. Simply put, I wear a lot of baseball type caps and got tired of ruining them with sweat stains after wearing them 3 or 4 times. So I set out to put an end to that forever. After a year of R&D to come up with the perfect formula and application, Hat Saver was born in January of 1998. Since that time the product has gained popularity nationwide and has been featured in many National publications. I have done several radio and TV interviews about the product and last November it was the Editor's Pick for Holiday Gift Ideas in Golf Magazine. After 5 years of knocking on the door I have finally gotten the break that I have been working for.

Wednesday I will be traveling to West Chester, Pennsylvania to make my debut appearance on the QVC Morning Show Thursday, November 7th. It has been over 5 months of intense work to get accepted on the show, but we have now sent them 5000 two packs of Hat Saver that is sitting in their warehouse waiting to be sold. I will have 8 minutes with the host on air to sell out the entire amount at $14.50 each. Needless to say, I am very anxious about this appearance in front of a potential 50 Million viewers and am hoping it goes well. For those of you that would like to tune in, (or maybe even purchase that perfect stocking stuffer) it will be the QVC Morning Show (Channel 74) that runs from 5 am - 7 am Arizona time. I don't have the exact time right now but we are expecting to be on within the first 1/2 hour of the show. I will be posting the exact time on the front page of the site on Wednesday afternoon when I find out. If you will be at work at that time, you can watch it on the internet at http://www.qvc.com/videostream/vid_linear.html.

For those of you that have an idea that you have come up with that is still in the back of your mind, now is the time to Go For It. Although it has seemed like much longer to me, it has only been 5 years to get to this point. Hopefully the next 5 will be even more productive. Thanks to all for your support. I'll let you know how it went in next week's letter.

Next Weekend

November 12th and 13th
Dale Keesee and the Dream Machine III will be at the Hacienda Customs shop, 15750 N. Northsight Blvd Tuesday, November 12th from 9:00am - 6:00pm and Wednesday, November 13th 9:00am - 6:00pm. Dale Keesee's long love affair with drag racing began in the 1960's. During the next decade he set three world records in his 1957 Chevrolet for elapsed time (E.T.) and Miles Per hour (MPH).  In the 1980's Dale traded his '57 for a 1967 Camaro in which he won numerous events across the country.  In St. Louis, Missouri he was again entered in the record books for MPH.

Still, Dale wanted to go event faster.  This never-ending need for speed took him to a new level with the creation of the Dream Machine III scheduled to debut in 2002.  this jet-powered funny car has 1957 Chevy styling on a modern Chevrolet body.  Nicknamed "Old Glory", this patriotic are is beautifully painted in red, white and blue and is dedicated in memory of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.  Dale plans on showing off the car in exhibition runs at all Super Chevy events in the 2002 show season. For more information call 480-905-1903.

November 16th and 17th
The
Arizona Motorcycle Expo coming to town on November 16th and 17th. This is the first year for this event and they have attracted some of the top names in town and the vendor spots are completely sold out. I talked to the organizer of this event and it looks to be a top notch well run event. This is a high caliber manufacturers type expo. All of the top bike builders and suppliers will be there including Paul Yaffee, Surgical Steeds, Jim Nasi and many more. It is a very family oriented event with activities for the kids as well. So feel free to bring your kids along. You will see everything from Custom Motorcycles, Harley's, Quads, Custom Go-Peds, Display from Toy Junkies, Hourly Giveaways, Drawing for a Honda 250 Quad, a spectators chosen bike show and much more. This will be the type of Expo that if you are looking for manufacturer products for your bike or Christmas gifts this would be a place to come take a look. This is a show of what is new in motorcycling and accessories. Welcome to Phoenix. Click Here to see the list of vendors. Admission is $8.00 and children under 13 are free.

Sunday, November 17th
5th Annual Chandler Custom Cycles Toys For Tots Ride. This is the 5th year for this run and it has become one of the Valley's Favorite Toy Runs. One of the neat things about this run is that you actually make a stop at the Child Crisis Center to visit with the kids and give them the toys. Since these shelters don't have national sponsors this is the most important time of the year for them to raise money. So these events really make a difference for them. $15.00 per person with toy, $20.00 per person without toy. All Registered Get A Free Ticket To The Arizona Motorcycle Expo as one of the stops. You will also get a Free Lunch, Live Music from the Noisemakers, 50/50 drawing, Lots of Door Prizes, Highest Hand Wins $250.
