Weekly Update

Greetings Riders,
Wow, what a week of travel and experiences. First of all, for those who travel for a living, I admire your tenacity to keep up that type of schedule. My travel mode actually started late Tuesday night. After getting the newsletter out I decided it was probably time to pack for the trip to QVC. I finally got to bed at about 1:30 AM only to get up 2 hours later to catch a 6:30 AM flight to Baltimore. Once we got there it was a 2 hour drive to West Chester, PA. Thursday I was up at 4:00 AM ET. to get to the studio by 5:00 AM. We had some extra time, so I was able to take a real behind the scenes tour of the studio before the morning crew showed up. What an incredible place they have built there. It is bigger than you can imagine. I heard that it was second in size to Universal Studios. Just the prop department alone is about half the size of a Fry's grocery store. There were many sets to tour in the studio area and it was fascinating to see how it all comes together.
Before I knew, it was time to get ready to go on. I made my way back to the green room for a bite of cookie, swig of Pepsi to calm the butterflies, and some last minute instruction. I settled in to watch the guests that were on before me, rehearsing in my mind what I was going to say and anticipating what is was going to be like to be standing there myself. At about 7:20 AM ET. the production assistant came into the green room to get me fitted with the audio for my 8 minutes of airtime. At this point, I knew that my months of waiting had been reduced to mere minutes. After a couple of "Test 1,2,3's" I was off to the my set in the QVC living room to tell the Hat Saver story.
It was now Showtime! That moment I had been anticipating for 6 months. It was kind of like waiting for that new motorcycle that you have had on order for months. You get the call that your wait is over, your bike has arrived and is ready to go. You go to the dealership, your months of dreams are right in front of you, they have given you the keys, all you have to do is throw a leg over it and take off. The only difference is there are not millions of people watching if you happen to ride off with the kick stand down. It was now my time to make sure I had the kick stand up and was ready for a smooth ride.
The lights came on, the red light on the camera was lit and the time to tell the world what I have been wanting to say for 5 years was finally here. And just like that, all this anticipation and years of waiting, was over in what seemed to be a mere moment. The host was wrapping it up and I was still ready to go. This had to be the fastest 8 minutes I have ever spent doing anything. It made that first intimate moment in my love life seem like an hour in comparison. But thankfully, the segment went very well. I had my kickstand up and rode away smoothly. The only part that hurt sales was that the host didn't ask for a demonstration until 2 minutes and 30 seconds had gone by. In the QVC world that is an eternity. You have to get a demo done within the first 30 seconds to maximize sales. But it was a tremendous experience and great exposure. Our next stop is hopefully another segment with QVC next Spring and then on to Home Shopping Network. If you would like to watch the spot you can Click Here For Hi Speed or Click Here for 56K Dialup.
So after a quick 2 hour drive back to Baltimore to catch my flight that turned out to be cancelled, several hours of waiting in the airport, several hours of flight time, and being up for 23 straight hours I had plenty of time to reflect. I was thankful for the opportunity to be on QVC, the safe trip and the fact that I live in Arizona. In over 4 hours of driving between Baltimore and West Chester I saw ONE motorcycle on the roads. ONE!! It was so cold and the wind was blowing over 30 mph it is no wonder there is no one riding back there. It really made me appreciate the weather and total freedom to be able to ride anytime we want here in good ole' Arizona.
Thanks for all of the well wishes from last week's letter. I appreciate it very much. See you all this weekend at the Arizona Motorcycle Expo. I will have a booth right as you walk in the front door. Stop by and say hi.

This Weekend

This is a good weekend for events. I always hate to see 2 good rides on the same day. But you can't go wrong with either, and they both pass through the Expo.

November 16th and 17th
Arizona Motorcycle Expo coming to town on November 16th and 17th. Bring the whole family! There is something for everyone. Over 100 vendors that represent a wide range of products. Start your Christmas shopping early. This is the first year for this event and they have attracted some of the top names in town and the vendor spots are completely sold out. I talked to the organizer of this event and it looks to be a top notch well run event. This is a high caliber manufacturers type expo. All of the top bike builders and suppliers will be there including Paul Yaffee, Surgical Steeds, Jim Nasi and many more. It is a very family oriented event with activities for the kids as well. So feel free to bring your kids along. You will see everything from Custom Motorcycles, Harley's, Quads, Custom Go-Peds, Display from Toy Junkies, Hourly Giveaways, Drawing for a Honda 250 Quad and much more. There will be a huge spectators chosen bike show, so be sure and bring your camera. This will be the type of Expo that if you are looking for manufacturer products for your bike or Christmas gifts this would be a place to come take a look. This is a show of what is new in motorcycling and accessories. Welcome to Phoenix. Click Here to see the list of vendors. Admission is $8.00 and children under 13 are free. The Expo will be held at the Phoenix Civic Plaza in downtown Phoenix adjacent to Bank One Ballpark. I will have a booth just inside the front door. Stop by and say Hi

5th Annual Chandler Custom Cycles Toys For Tots Ride. This is the 5th year for this run and it has become one of the Valley's Favorite Toy Runs. Since these shelters don't have national sponsors this is the most important time of the year for them to raise money. So these events really make a difference for them. $15.00 per person with toy, $20.00 per person without toy. All Registered Get A Free Ticket To The Arizona Motorcycle Expo as one of the stops. New Videos:
I'm amazed at all of the people that are switching to Cox internet. If you haven't looked into it, it is only a few dollars more than you are paying now and well worth it. I added this video last week. I used new software, so Windows Media Player might ask you if you want to download a new codec. Just click yes and it will update your system so that you can see the video.
Check out the new video I titled "Soak Up The Sun". I took these shots a few weeks ago on the ride to Canyon Lake. It is 2 1/2 minutes long with the background music of Sheryl Crow's Soak Up The Sun. It makes you want to get out and ride. I think you will enjoy. I did 3 different sizes of the video. There is also one for those that have 56K dialup. You can reach the links from the front page of .

Other Videos:
Here is Sheryl Crow's New Video: Steve McQueen. It has some motorcycles, cars, etc. I think you will enjoy.
Here is her full
"Soak Up The Sun" video. It's really good.
