Cyclerides.com Weekly
Update
11/28/12
Greetings Riders,
Well, if this isn’t Chamber of Commerce riding weather, I
don’t know what is. It doesn’t get much better than mid 70’s and sunny for
riding, or whatever else you might want to do. Even if you wanted to take a ride
out of the Valley, it is 65 and sunny in Sedona. Time to take advantage of why
we live here.
The really good news about the weather is that this Saturday for the
Cyclerides.com Toys to Kids event, it is going to be 75 and Sunny
for the day, and only 52 at night. So that means by the time everyone gets on
the road to the event, it will be awesome riding weather. After the last couple
of years with rain challenges, this is a welcomed forecast.
As most of you know, this Saturday, December 1st is the
Cyclerides.com Toys to Kids Event.
This one is pretty special to me as it is a milestone 10th year in a row that we
have done this event.
It seems every year, I say it is going to be
the last year I do this event, and then the teachers tell me that this is the
one event that these kids look forward to every year, then my heart melts and
soon after I start planning for the next year. Not only do the kids look forward
to it, but the riders have just as much fun watching the kids have their one day
that everything is alright in their world for at least a couple of hours, and
all the attention is on them. This is one event where you are surrounded by the
innocence of 120 children where you are partly responsible for making it a
better day for them. It is truly a wonderful day that I love, and look forward
to being a part of. I hope you will too.
The
Cyclerides.com Toys to
Kids event will once again be held at Westgate City Center
in
the water plaza area where we will bus in 120 underprivileged and homeless kids
from the
Children First Academy from downtown Phoenix. We will entertain them, feed them
and then they will each get to pick 3 gifts from the stack of toys that you
bring to take home with them. One of the toys that they pick is for them to give
away to another child that could not come. There is no cost for this event. All
we ask is that you bring at least one toy or game per person for ages
K-5.
I have moved the exact location of the Toy Event
to the water plaza area between the Yardhouse and the Theater, where
Westgate has just put up a giant Christmas tree. This will
be much better ambiance and more comfortable for the kids who will have brand
new fake grass to sit on and a great
viewing experience for the riders who will be bringing gifts and attending the
show. Click Here for pictures of the
area.
To make this an extra special day for everyone, I have brought in
Tim and Willy to open the show this
year.
You might recall when they were on KMLE radio here in
Phoenix, they had a segment where whatever the topic of the day was, they would
“write a song about it”. So this year, they are going to write a song about the
Cyclerides.com Toys to Kids event. Can’t wait to hear this one.
The second part of our show is the world class entertainer/juggler/magician
Craig Davis. We are setting up a giant
stage for Craig to perform on.
Craig is an outstanding Vegas style
performer that will be performing tricks that you will not want to miss. Craig
was a huge hit for the adults as well as the kids last year. He is a
professional magician that normally charges over $2000 per show at private
parties and corporate events. He combines the art of illusion, comedy and the
spectacle of the circus that is amazingly entertaining. Craig specializes in Original and
Unbelievable Grand Magic Illusions, Side-Splitting Comedy, Audience
Participation, Trained Tropical Birds, Amazing Juggling and features Original,
Exciting Music. He will also be there early to perform tricks
throughout the crowd.
And last but not least, Westgate has
installed snow machines that will be turned on at the completion of the show.
The kids will really get a kick out of this. I was at the tree lighting at
Westgate last night with 2000 other people and watched as the crowd really
enjoyed it.
Bring the whole family to enjoy this event on Saturday, December 1st to make
sure that we have enough toys for these kids so that they can each pick any 3
toys out of the stack to take home with them and to share one with a sibling or
friend.
A $9.99 breakfast buffet at Saddle Ranch starts
at 9AM for those early birds. The kids will be arriving at
10 AM and the show starting at 10:45 AM. All we ask is that you bring at least
one toy per person for ages 6-12 years old. See our video
from a couple of years ago. This sums it all up.
Please join Mrs. C. and I on Saturday, December 1st to help us put smiles
on the faces of over 100 kids who usually have trouble finding a good reason to
smile.
I guarantee it will also put a smile on your face to be a
part of this very special event. Come on motorcycles, cars, trucks or whatever.
Bring the whole family. See you there. Details below. See
Flyer.
Tidbits:
A lot of you might have heard about the video of the song “Gangman Style”
that has set a You Tube record with over 800,000,000 million views.
Even at my age, it appears that I still have a few good moves left in me.
Check out my version of “Gangman Style” courtesy of Jib Jab.
