Greetings Riders,

If you missed the newsletter last week, Click Here to Read.
If you miss it in your email, you can always go to www.cyclerides.com to read it online right after it comes out.

This week I want to focus on the Cyclerides.com Veterans Bike Night on Friday, November 10th at Westgate Entertainment District. This is going to be a very patriotic night as we will be honoring all Veterans as well as two very special guests that we are bringing in to help us celebrate.

U.S. Navy Seaman 1st Class Ray Chavez, the oldest living Pearl Harbor survivor who is now 105 years old will be with us that night.
Ray will be escorted by his daughter daughter Kathleen Chavez who served for 19 years and was the first women in the Navy to be a jet engine mechanic and served in Desert Storm.

I have not met Ray Chavez in person, but I have seen a couple of interviews with him and I am amazed by his mental and physical condition at 105 years old. He started working out with a trainer twice a week at 101 years old and just went over to Hawaii last year for the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. To get to know Ray Chavez a little bit before the event, I would encourage you to watch these 2 short interviews of him below. I cannot wait to meet him in person.

This one from the "Stories of Pearl Harbor" is captivating. Ray recounts that day on Pearl Harbor over 75 years ago when the Japanese started attacking and what he encountered as he ran into the battle. He said he would enlist again today if we needed him.

Here is an interview from NBC Nightly news on his 105th birthday that gets you more up close and personal with him.

We will also welcome United States Army Special Forces Command Sergeant Major Ramon Rodriquez, who is a Medal of Honor Recipient Nominee. Ramon is one of the most decorated combat soldiers from the Vietnam War, earning the Silver Star, the nations third-hightest honor for heroism, three times in just 34 months. When he retired after 23 years of service to our country, Ramon had received 3 Bronze Stars, 3 Silver Stars and 5 Purple Hearts. Both men will be the focus of the presentation this night. You may also talk with and get photos with them throughout the night.

I will also be bringing my 92 year old Father who is a U.S. Navy World War 2 Veteran to join in on the festivities.

To make it the special night that it is, Westgate Entertainment District is going to decorate Coyote Blvd. with 16 United States Flags, one on every light pole to view as you ride through to park. We will also have a 20 foot wide U.S. Flag that was flown over the USS Missouri and will be unfurled from the second story walkway behind the stage as we all stand and sing the National Anthem. Liberty Wildlife will also be there with their live Eagle for you to view during the night, and who will be on stage during the National Anthem.

Live music for this evening from 6-9 PM will be the band CTS, featuring Jeff Senour who is an incredible performer, patriot and military supporter. This is the perfect band to celebrate Veterans day with as they are Driven by a passion to celebrate the greatest country in the world and touching the souls of America’s youth through music, Jeff Senour formed the CTS (Called To Serve) rock band in 2002. Senour and CTS have created inspiring original music with a positive message garnering worldwide recognition and numerous awards, including:

At 8PM there will be a special 20 minute presentation featuring the National Anthem and unfurling of the 20 foot flag that flew on the USS Missouri, a Color Guard presentation, Patriot Guard Riders, and a presentation of Ray Chavez and Ramon Rodriguez who will both address the crowd. If you are looking for a place to show your patriotism and your support for our Veterans and active military forces, I invite you to join us on this magical night, Friday, November 10th with these 2 military heroes. You will also have the opportunity to talk with them and see the medals on display.

I would like to thank Ridenow Charities for funding the private air transportation that will bring these 2 men from Long Beach and San Diego, CA on Thursday and return them on Sunday.
I will be riding along to greet and film them as we pick them up in Long Beach and San Diego on Thursday. So stay tuned to the Cyclerides.com Facebook as I will be doing live updates throughout the day during their pickups and then arrival here in Phoenix to a full color guard reception. And thanks to Rick Cochran Jr., President of the A Legacy of Valor who is arranging the visit by these two heroes.

Cyclerides.com Bike Night at Westgate Entertainment District.

Cyclerides.com Bike Night at Westgate Entertainment District will begin our 9th Fall Season with 11 nights total on Friday, September 8th from 5pm - 9pm. Yes, you read that correct, Friday night. Due to interest in Friday nights last time and some conflict with events at the arena, we have decided to do the first 7 Cyclerides.com Bike Nights at Westgate on Friday nights. For those of you putting this in your calendars to keep track, those dates will be Friday nights from September 8th - October 20th.

Here is where it gets a little tricky. Our first idea was to do the last 4 nights on Thursday nights and that is how we were going to proceed. Then Westgate got notified of an event happening at the arena on Thursday, Nov. 9th. So we are switching that one night to Friday, November 10th when we will have a big Veteran's Day celebration at bike night. So the last 4 nights will be on Thursdays, October 26th, November 2nd and November 16th for the last night. November 10th will be on a Friday. It was unfortunate that we couldn't keep all 4 Thursdays in a row, but with all the conflicts either way, this was the best way to do it.

This is a great excuse for all to get out on the motorcycle and enjoy some cooler weather especially for evening riding. There was a lot of good feedback on Friday nights last time as a lot of people used it for a date night on the motorcycle and were able to stay out a little longer as for some it isn't a work night.

Live Music:
Thursday, November 2nd: "Skarlett Fever"
Friday, November 10th: "CTS"
Thursday, November 16th: "Kung Fu Grip"
