Cyclerides.com Weekly
Update
10/24/12
Greetings Riders,
Well, I have to start off this week’s newsletter with an important alert. I
felt some cool weather last night that required a sweatshirt for
evening riding!! It has taken to October 24th for that to happen, but it is now
time to throw the sweatshirt or light jacket in the bags for early morning or
evening riding. Hallelujah!! I was wondering if it was ever going to get here.
The forecast for the next week is mid 80’s day and high 50’s evenings. Time to
take advantage of this awesome riding weather.
The event calendar is very full these days as October always is.
The Bob’s Biker Blast last week at HD of Scottsdale was extremely well
attended as you can see by this
picture as several thousand people, showed up for this concert. I
heard as many as 12,000 for the day. 38 Special put on a great show. Those old
guys can still rock and sounded excellent. George Thorogood was alright, but in
my opinion, 38 Special was spot on and had him beat for the night. All in all,
an excellent night and a great new venue in town for motorcycle riders to enjoy.
The ice sculpture dudes were interesting as they carved a motorcycle and a
Harley logo out of ice to music. Mrs. C. said the bike must be a “Bobber”.
Click
Here to see how she arrived at her comment. We walked up to
take some photos and a look at the finished product when one of the Ice
Mimes pointed at the both of us and indicated he wanted us to go on
stage to sit on the the ice bike. Being good sports, even though we knew it was
going to be wet and cold, we obliged and hopped up on stage. Little did we know
that they had much more in store for us. They handed me an ice ring to be given
to Mrs. C. and one for her to give to me. I told her that was the only way she
was going to get a rock
like that!
Next they gave me an
ice
heart inscribed with “I (a heart drawing) U to give to Mrs. C.
After 31 years of marriage I had no idea that I would be involved in a
mock wedding ceremony with an Ice Mime that looked like the Joker’s frozen
brother from a Batman movie. After the silent exchange of vows, we
sat on the ice sculptured motorcycle for a few photo ops. It was a
very fun impromptu exchange that entertained us and the crowd. Thanks to all who
sent in pictures of us on the ice bike. We appreciated that. Click
Here to see all the photos.
Sunday we participated in the Charley Vidal ride and event to the Hideaway.
Thanks to Mark Bradshaw at the Hideaway for donating the food and
to all who came out to help and those who donated silent auction items to raise
almost $5000 for Charley to ease his financial burdens while he works to beat
this awful cancer for the second time.
I earlier mentioned the great night riding temperatures now. This is a good
time to take a ride to The
Cyclerides.com
Westgate Bike Night presented by Arrowhead Harley-Davidson and Ridenow
Powersports.
If you haven’t been there yet this season, you only
have 4 nights left including tonight to ride in and enjoy one of the coolest
bike nights in the Southwest. The last night is Thursday, November 15th. Tonight
enjoy Live Music with “Sour
Diesel Trainwreck”. You can hear some of their
music at this link. This is an excellent Southern Rock band that has their own
CD out now. You will love these guys. We also have 2 Classic Cars on display
tonight. A 1932 Hemi Roadster and a 1950 Olds Convertible that you won’t want to
miss. You could also try the Mixteca Bike Night for a nice time on Friday
nights. CLICK HERE for some recent photos of Bike Night.
See all events this weekend below.
Whatever you do, get out
and enjoy this great riding weather and most of all ride safe. See the Day Rides section for some ideas
or just type in some Keywords in the newsletter Archives to find an article on a
destination you would like to go.
Have a good weekend!
