Greeting Riders, Again,
I apologize for a second letter, but due to my haste in getting
the newsletter out early this week to tell you about the move of the Cyclerides.com
Westgate Bike Night to Wednesday nights, I forgot a ride, a few links, etc.
So here it is in the complete form.
Greetings Riders,
Finally, it is definitely that time of year to get out and do some
riding. If you missed the newsletter last week, Click
Here. I gave you a great route over Mingus
Mountain highlighting the new asphalt on that road as well as a virtually
unknown road called Page Springs Rd. that you can take just outside of
Cottonwood to get home. Here is an aerial
view of Page Springs Rd. With temps predicted to
be in the low 90’s in the valley, the riding up North will be awesome. Check it
out.
Judging by the best attendance for the Fall season at both the
Cyclerides.com Westgate and Mesa Riverview Bike Nights, riders are
also enjoying the cooler evenings to take an evening ride. If that is what you
are looking for, we have 2 options for you to do just that.
I wanted to highlight this week that the CYCLERIDES.COM WESTGATE
BIKE NIGHT IS MOVING TO WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AS OF THIS WEEK, OCTOBER 19TH.
The reason for the move is that the Phoenix Coyotes are now playing
regular season games and have home games on Thursday’s. Since they take events
plaza at Westgate for their pre-game festivities, it is not practical to have
bike night on the same nights, so we elected to move them to Wednesday nights
for the remaining 5 nights of the season. Please cut and paste or forward this
information to all of your riding pals that enjoy the Westgate Bike Night so
that there is no confusion.
This week is “Sand Rail” night at the Cyclerides.com
Westgate Bike Night. We have scheduled Indy Car driver Paul
Tracy to be there with his 1000 HP Tatum Motorsports Sand Rail. This thing is a
beauty. I’m hoping that he will still be able to make it in light of the Indy
Car accident he was involved in this past Sunday in Vegas. It is looking good.
Tatum is also bringing the sand rail that belongs to Nascar driver Casey Mears
to be on display as well as one other of their $100,000 + extreme sand car
machines. These cars are all the best of the best in awesome sand cars. If you
haven’t had a chance to see them, stop by this Wednesday night, October 19th to
see them for yourself along with Live Music by HardRide, 6-9 PM.
It is “Off Road” night at Cyclerides.com
Mesa Riverview Bike Night where we will be featuring Off-Road
trucks and all-terrain vehicles. Be sure and stop by Mesa Riverview on Friday
night to see all of them as well as the Cyclerides.com Photo Gallery. We will
have Live Music in the street by HardRide. See you there. 6-9 PM.
A lot of you know that February 14th, 2012 is our Arizona Centennial. Since Arizona is the only State that has made a motorcycle, The Copper
Chopper, the mascot of their Centennial, there is also going to be a huge
Arizona Centennial Ride on
Saturday, February 11th led by Dierks Bentley, ending at the Capitol for the
Centennial Best Fest. I am on the committee to plan this ride and we are
currently working on the start location and ride route. It will be a once in a
lifetime event for motorcycle riders in our State. Here is a look at the
Ride Pin for this event.
To gear up for this big event, cities all around Arizona are doing their
own signature events to honor the upcoming Centennial. This
Saturday, Peoria has incorporated a motorcycle ride with a day long festival
called Arizona On The Move. The day
will begin with a Free community breakfast at Peoria Sports Complex with many
family activities, which is where the ride will begin. The route will be up to
through Wickenburg to Arizona’s first capitol in Prescott where you will get
your Arizona Centennial pin. Then it will be your choice of the route back
(see my route
idea) to Arrowhead Harley for an outdoor
concert featuring valley favorite “Mogollon” from 4 – 7 PM where there will be
Vendors, Bike Show and More. Cold Beer will be provided by “Johnny Fox’s Public
House adjoining Arrowhead HD. Should be a beautiful day for a ride up North. See

Tidbits and Updates:
**I have the opportunity to fly in a National Guard tanker this week that
will be fueling F-16’s in the air. We all get a chance to sit in
the boom area and take some photos. Am anxious to bring you those in the
newsletter next week.
**New Bike Build Update. The parts are now at C.R. Designs for paint. We
have added one last part, the custom air cleaner. We covered half of the
original air cleaner with fiberglass and left some chrome exposed. The
fiberglass cover will be screwed on the sides which will show no visible bolts
to attach the air cleaner. The fiberglass part will be painted red like the

It ends up that only one part on the bike does not have fiberglass
fabrication and that is the front fender. This has turned out to be a way bigger
project than I had envisioned, but I think we have created a really cool bike in
the process. There has been a little change in color as I have decided to go
with Boyd Coddington Red. With the Corvette theme, it just
seemed like the thing to do. One recent piece that Jim fabricated was the Chin
Spoiler that I thought came out real nice. It is the next to the last
picture.

Westgate Bike Night: Moves to Wednesday Nights, October
19th!
We are going to expand the
frequency for the Fall season at Westgate as there will be 10 nights this
year. Due to the Coyotes schedule and not being able to overlap on their
games because they use events plaza, we will be doing 5 Thursday nights in a row
starting on Thursday, September 15th through Thursday, October 13th. Then we
will switch to Wednesday nights for the next 5 from Wednesday, October 19th
through Wednesday, November 16th. Event Time 5-9 PM. This year we will be doing
theme nights that will incorporate classic cars, music and Extreme Machines. The
next 2 will be 60’s and 70’s with classic cars reflecting the era. We will then
move on to “Extreme Machines” bringing in for display the most exotic
motorsports we can find for you to see. I am really looking forward to

3rd Annual Rob Moy Memorial Motorcycle Run. Presented by Scottsdale
Healthcare Foundation, the motorcycle run honors the late Rob Moy, an avid biker
and 14-year Scottsdale Healthcare employee. Registration begins at
8 a.m., ride leaves 9 am from Go AZ Motorcycles at 15500 Hayden Road, in
Scottsdale and ends at San Tan Flats in Queen Creek. This year’s run features a
198 mile scenic ride. The theme this year is a "Scrabble Run." Along the route,
motorcyclists will collect letters at each stop to make a word. The word with
the highest value at the end wins the Grand Prize - a big screen HD Plasma TV!
The ending celebration includes music and other exciting raffle prizes like

kickstands up at 9 AM. You'll travel just over 100 miles through some of the
Valley's most scenic areas. There are plenty of stops in between to stretch your
legs, wet your whistle, and snap photos of friends and nature too. There is a
