Well, it is August in Phoenix, AZ and the weather hasn't been real conducive to motorcycle riding.
Between the monsoon storms and the excessive heat, it is pretty brutal
right now. So that is why not much going on right now. I had to ride to
Tempe last Monday and came home around 1pm at 112 degrees. That was the
longest 40 miles I think I have had. I don't wear a helmet all the time
when traveling short distances. But we are now always wearing them for
our longer trips out of town and find them to be very comfortable.
The myth that wearing a helmet in the heat like this makes you hotter, just couldn't be farther from the truth.
It keeps your head so much cooler and keeps the sun from dehydrating
you faster, making you able to ride longer distances without stopping
for water. Having the helmet on definitely saved my melon from getting
fried. Give it a try sometime. The good news is, that we will be past
this weather within the next couple of weeks as we work our way into
The number one question I get from email and when I am at the Cyclerides.com Bike Night at Westgate
is when am I going to start a Bike Night in the East Valley. Well, I
have been trying to put this together for a long time, and I can
finally say that the time is now! I wanted the best venue on the East
side to do a bike night, and there are not many available. But the one
that I have wanted, and have been trying to get done for the last 4
years is finally going to happen this Fall.
I would like to announce that the Cyclerides.com Bike Night series is expanding to the East Valley
and will be riding into Tempe for the Cyclerides.com Bike Night at Tempe Marketplace on Thursday nights beginning Thursday, September 13th, and running through November 15th for 10
consecutive Thursday nights. This is a fantastic venue conveniently
located at the Loop 101 & 202. We will utilize the street and
courtyard area in the center of Tempe Marketplace and will be able to
cruise through and park our motorcycles on the street that is normally
closed to traffic. There is a built in stage, tables, umbrellas and
misters in the area that will keep you cool.
We will have Live Music every week and will open the first bike night with the 74th Street Band on September 13th.
There will be Vendors as well as Food and Drink specials throughout the
complex. Dave and Busters has a great 2nd story patio that overlooks
the road and band that you will be able to hang out in and watch the
bikes cruise through. California Pizza Kitchen is on the ground level
with an outdoor patio and Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que with a large
outdoor patio where all the bikes exit, as well as many other places
throughout the district.Live Music for September will include: 74th St.
Band, Backstage Crew and Skarlett Fever on September 27th. See Photos of where we will be having bike night.
I am really excited to be bringing Cyclerides.com Bike Night to the East Valley
in such a great location. This will give everyone on the East side a
good reason to get on their motorcycles, and head out to a great venue
to have dinner with your riding buddies and watch the motorcycles
cruise by. Should be a great time! Come out to Tempe Marketplace on
Thursday, September 13th to help us kick it off. Thanks to Tempe
Marketplace for allowing us to do this and to our presenting sponsors:
Desert Wind Harley-Davidson, Ridenow Powersports Chandler, Indian Motorcycle
Chandler and Nash Powersports, along with our associate sponsor Law
Tigers who help make this happen.
Just to be clear, we are continuing our 10th season of the Cyclerides.com Bike Night at Westgate Entertainment District
in Glendale. That will begin on Friday, September 7th and continue for
11 consecutive Friday nights ending on November 16th. We will kickoff
the Fall season with the Visitors, Strangeland, Visitors and Skarlett
Fever for September. Thanks to our presenting Sponsors again this season, Arrowhead Harley-Davidson, Ridenow Powersports Peoria and Indian Motorcycle Peoria and our associate sponsor Law Tigers.
I am really excited to provide 2 excellent Bike Nights covering both sides of the Valley
on Thursday and Friday nights so that everyone will have the
opportunity to have a fun place to ride to. It will keep me moving, but
I am looking forward to seeing riders on both sides of town. Thanks for
your continued support in our new endeavors.
Please stay tuned and "Like" the Cyclerides.com Facebook Page for updates on special activations, Live Music and Specials at both of our Bike Nights.
