Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
6/27/18

Greetings Riders,

If you missed the newsletter last week about our "Adventure in Telluride", Click Here to View.
I had several replies from those who have ridden to Telluride and taken a day to do a similar trip. Check it out.

There are so many fantastic things to see in this country that it would be hard to talk about all of them if you did it once a week for the next ten years. I know when I was younger and on a motorcycle trip, or traveling from point A to point B, I would never take the time to stop and explore the things on my route. One of my favorite excuses would be, "I will catch that the next time I am through here". Well, a lot of times, for whatever reason, there isn't a next time. I can't tell you how many things I have ridden past that I said, I will stop there next time. And 15 years later. . . next time still hasn't presented itself. I'm sure most of you can recall some of those instances yourself.

So as I grow older, and the tomorrow's become fewer, I made it a quest a few years ago to quit driving by those things I would like to see. To not miss an opportunity to pick up the phone and call and old friend, or just take the extra time with an acquaintance to see how their day is going. Included in this new mindset would be to start checking off things that I have had on my "Tomorrow" list for quite awhile. Some are bigger than others, but all equally important to the list.

In today's world time is a precious commodity that we all seek to harness and use the best way possible. But with all of the distractions of the internet and technology, we seem to be forced into fast forward all the time and get sidetracked when it comes to how to best use the time we have. And then before you know it, that time surplus has slipped away and you are trying to catch up once again, all while driving right by the very things that you should be paying attention to. That being, Family, Friends and those bucket list items that you would like to experience.

Now that we are well into the Summer travel time, when you are on your rides or family vacations, I would encourage you to take a chapter out of our book and start bringing your tomorrow into today, by taking the time to see those things that you may never pass by again. Be it a Museum, a National Park, a Landmark that you have never visited, or stopping to see an old friend in a city that you happen to be passing through.

Time is a precious gift that when wasted can never be replaced, but when used properly can never be forgotten. Make it a priority to take a few minutes to figure out how you can turn your time into memories.
As a famous quote reads:
The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man.
"Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the Present."

Enjoy and make the most of your Summer travels. And most of all, BE SAFE!
