Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
5/16/18

Greetings Riders,

If you missed the newsletter last week about the "Hidden Gem" of a road in Colorado, Click Here to View. This is definitely one to put on your to do list.

First off this week, I would like to say Happy 37th Anniversary to Mrs. C., my best friend and the love of my life. I thank God for bringing us together 44 years ago and blessing us along the way. I'm sad when you leave in the morning and can't wait for you to get home. I cherish every day that I wake up with you and look forward to much more fun together as we grow old. Love You!

Only 3 NIGHTS LEFT for the
Cyclerides.com Bike Night at Westgate Entertainment District for this season. The weather looks like it is going to be GREAT for an evening ride. This week we have Live Music with "Tavern" from 6-9pm. Special display this week is a race version of a 1964 Corvette with 8 induction carburetors. This is a really cool car to see in person. Ride in for some Music, Food, Fun, Drink and plenty of motorcycles! Gates open at 5pm and band from 6-9pm.

Last weekend was the Law Tigers Arizona Mile presented by Buddy Stubbs Harley-Davidson. It was a great success and lots of fun had by all. Unless you were riding a Harley-Davidson on the track. Once again Indian Motorcycles swept the podium with Jared Mees taking first place. I know HD is trying to narrow the gap, but it looks like they still have some work to do to catch up with Indian as they placed 5th. That alone will make it interesting the rest of the season to see if HD can make a podium. If you haven't been to a flat track race yet, keep it in mind for next year. Take a look at this excellent video that Adam Sandoval did recapping the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcAA0Wls0CY

One of the fun things that I did was participate in the Mini Bike Races which was entertaining, and a crowd favorite event of the day.
Participants in the race were Frank Stubbs, Myself, Ari Levenbaum of Law Tigers, Adam Sandoval of ScootinAmerica and Boss Hoss from Ramjet Racing. I had no idea that riding these little 3 hp mini bikes in dirt could be so tough. Just staying upright on them going around the corners was a challenge. Aside from taking out a hay bail on the first practice lap and doing some gardening of the petunias a few times, I was able to take 2nd Place behind the racing pedigree of Frank Stubbs. It was a lot of fun and the judging by the video, the crowd had a great time watching grown men on very small mini bikes. Click Here to Watch the Mini Bike Race. (Turn on the Sound)
Thanks to AZ Mini Bike and Go Kart for supplying the mini bikes to ride.

California Pacific Coast Highway Update:
I know a lot of you are planning Summer rides now and one of the best ones on the West coast is currently still closed. But if you still wanted to get a good look at the PCH 1, you can do most of it if you are coming from the North. You can go from Carmel all the way down through Big Sur and past Lucia. From there you can take the Nacimiento Fergusson Rd. inland through Fort Hunter Liggett to the 101 and on to Paso Robles then back to the coast. So if you are in the area, and want to get a really good taste of the best of PCH 1, you can still do that. The road is scheduled to be open fully in late September of this year. There are 2 excellent resources with maps that will show you the closures. You can use these to make your plans.
Map of whole coast highway showing you the closures. Click Here.

Nacimiento Fergusson Rd. Click Here.

I will be back next week with my Top 6 Ride Destinations in Arizona. Why 6? I couldn't narrow it down to 5.

Check and "LIKE" Cyclerides.com Facebook Page for updates rides, photos and video posted throughout the week.

Please Ride Safe!
Barry
