frontpage350road Weekly Update
Greetings Riders,
Last week I gave you Northern Arizona Wine Ride. If you missed the story on this great little 200+ mile loop, Click Here to read. I have already heard that some people have visited Cottonwood and tried the Page Springs Rd. route and were very impressed. It is amazing that I have lived here over 30 years and just discovered Old Town Cottonwood only a year ago. It seems that on my many trips to Jerome I had taken the loop around old town direct to Jerome on Hwy. 260. I will now regularly stay on Historic 89A and go through Old Town. Another tip that I didn’t mention in the article is that you can easily incorporate Cornville Rd. and Page Springs Rd. on your ride to and/or from Sedona as an alternate for a nice loop off of I-17. See Map.
Occasionally interesting products are brought to me to test. If I like them, I share them with all of you. The product I am going to review today, I actually found them, and have been using the unit for over 3 months now. It is the ArrowTrack GPS Tracking System.
When I built the new Mako Glide, there was a concern about leaving it parked unattended while on our trips, or even here in town. With a bike like that, there is no way the insurance company is going to give me what it is worth. So I went in search of an affordable GPS tracking system that would give me SOME peace of mind while parked at a motel in the middle of nowhere when on a long ride. After searching the internet, I found the ArrowTrack GPS Tracking System which seemed to be just what I was looking for. And the bonus was, they happen to be right here in Scottsdale.
I guess the bottom line is if someone wants to steal something bad enough, they will probably be able to do it. But why make it easy for them? The guys who do this are very good AND quick. So if you can be alerted in progress of your bike being wheeled or carried away, you are going to have a better shot of stopping the theft or getting it back. The ArrowTrack will do just that.
While telling another rider about my GPS Tracking he told me a story about a buddy of his that had his bike stolen while in the grocery store. He parked in front of the grocery store, went in for about 10 minutes, came back out and his bike had vanished. What happened according to an eye witness was that an enclosed truck pulled up and parked next to the bike. 4 guys got out the truck, picked up the bike and moved it out of the parking spot. Another guy was in the back of the truck operating a hydraulic arm of some sort that came out the truck. They strapped the bike to the arm and lifted it into the back of the truck, shut the door and drove off. In literally a couple of minutes, the bike was off to the chop shop to be stripped and parted out.
The random guy setting outside the grocery store watching the whole thing go down is the guy who relayed the story to the bike owner when he came out and found his ride not parked where he left it. The guy said he had no idea that the bike was being stolen. He said he thought that it had broken down and was being taken to the shop. That is how easy it appears to be for professional thieves to capture a bike. While it is hard to totally prevent this type of operation from happening, at least you can take measures to help recover your bike or track it for police.
When looking for a tracking system there were 2 things that were most important to me. I wanted to be alerted immediately if the bike moved and wanted to be able to track it on my phone or an internet browser. When I came across the ArrowTrack GPS Tracking System and found out it did both of those, I got in touch with the owner Chris Hines to learn more about it. We met so that he could show me how the system works and go over all of the features that it has. At that point I was sold, it did all I wanted and more.
Key Features:
* Tells you by text and e-mail immediately, wherever you are, if your vehicle has been moved.
* Finds your vehicle, typically in seconds, just by clicking the “locate” button.
* Tracks your vehicle location using GPS tracking.
* Monitors the location of your vehicle 24/7 from any web browser anywhere in the world.
* Provides a daily report on the location of your vehicle.
Added Benefits:
*Tells you when your battery is low or disconnected.
*Has an internal back-up battery with its own low-battery alert.
*Tells you when a pre-set maximum speed is exceeded (pre-sets are: 65 mph, 75 mph or 85 mph).
*Enables you to set up an adjustable perimeter (GEOfence) around your vehicle. The fence radius can be sized anywhere from 1/4 mile to 500 miles.
*GEOfence OUT alerts you if your vehicle moved out of the pre-set radius.
*GEOfence IN alerts you if your vehicle moved in the pre-set radius.
The ArrowTrack is less than the size of a pack of cigarettes and is easy to set up. You just install the unit under your fairing, attach the the power cord to your battery, go on the internet to register the unit and you are now being monitored. Simple as that. If installing on a car, you can then move it to any vehicle you choose as much as you want. The ArrowTrack GPS Tracking System cost $499. It comes with a full year of monitoring included. After that it is $100 per year to protect your vehicle.
I have been using the ArrowTrack for 3 months now, have found it to work flawlessly and would highly recommend it. Every time I get on the bike to ride it texts and emails me to let me know that it is working and that I am protected. Where ever I go, I know that I have an extra layer of protection in the event that someone even sets on my bike. It is definitely more comfortable to leave the bike unattended with the ArrowTrack. Not only can you put this on your motorcycle, you can put it on a classic car, boat or anything else that you want to protect. You could also put it on your children’s car to see if they are breaking speed limits or going where they are not supposed to go. It transfers easily from vehicle to vehicle. This is the best unit available especially for the price, and I consider it very cheap peace of mind having it installed on my new bike.
If you would like to protect your valuable vehicle, you can purchase an ArrowTrack GPS Tracking System locally at Buddy Stubbs HD, Chester’s HD, HD of Scottsdale or by calling ArrowTrack at 877-866-1361. ArrowTrack will have a booth at the Westgate Bike Night on Thursday, May 3rd. Stop by and talk to Chris in person to see the unit in action.
