Cyclerides.com Weekly
Update
4/10/13
Greetings Riders,
Well, Arizona Bike Week is officially underway and the events have been
very well attended as expected. There was what looked to be a
record crowd for a concert at Chester’s on Friday night and a big crowd at
Stubbs on Saturday. We took a diversion and went to the Heart concert on Sunday
night at the Celebrity Theatre which was awesome. Ever since I missed them at
Bike Week a couple of years ago and heard the great reviews, I have been wanting
to see them and they were fantastic! Believe it or not, Anne Wilson is now 62
and Nancy Wilson is 59 years old. Anne’s voice is still as silky smooth and
strong as it ever was. If you get a chance to see them, do it. You will not be
disappointed. I wasn’t at Harley of Scottsdale Sunday night, but I heard that
they had a large crowd as well.
Sunday we rode out to Cave Creek for lunch at the Tap Haus. Cave Creek was
definitely full of bikes
as they were parked everywhere they could
find a place including down both sides of the South lane of Cave Creek Rd.
Hideaway was a happening place with vendors and great music with Sal. As we were
leaving the Tap Haus on our bikes, Rusty Childress took a pic of Me, Mrs. C. and
Scott Pasmore. Not only does he take great pictures, but his post processing is
amazing. Take a look at what he did with this shot. Kind of looks like a water
color or painting. Click
Here to View. He is the Bike Week photographer, so if
you see a guy with a big camera, be sure to smile. I will share his shots after
Bike Week. Go to www.maineventimaging.com to see
some of his work.
After leaving the Tap Haus at about 3:15 pm on Sunday, I decided to go get
the plane and get some aerial shots of Cave Creek.
So for those of
you that have only heard about this area and not seen it, or were there and want
to see what it looks like from the air, I have 15 photos that show you the area.
When you go into this photo site, click on any thumbnail and it will show the
photo bigger on the right. Click on the photo and it will come up bigger. From
there you can blow it up as far as to the original to really take a look at
things. Click
Here to View. I plan to get some aerial photos of
Cyclefest at Westworld on Wednesday afternoon.
Arizona Bike Week begins this
Wednesday with Cyclefest at Westworld of Scottsdale.
I talked with
the owner of Bike Week on Sunday and he said there are going to be a record 250
vendors this year. Along with all of the other activities going on, and
concerts, this should be a very good year for Arizona Bike Week. We will
definitely be going to see The Doobie Brothers show on Friday night as well as
some various other events over the weekend. See daily details on the ABW web
site.
Don’t miss this week at the
Cyclerides.com Westgate Bike Night
presented by Arrowhead Harley-Davidson and Ridenow Powersports.
I
am expecting record crowds for this event with Bike Week riders being in town
and wanting to participate in the largest bike night in the Southwest at one of
the coolest venue’s there is. This week we will feature Live Music with
crowd favorite Southern Rock recording artists “Sour Diesel Train
Wreck”. We will have lots of vendors and a ride in bike show for you to
see some of the most outstanding motorcycles in one place. There will be plenty
of motorcycle parking. See restaurant specials below. Come on down and help make
this our biggest Cyclerides.com Westgate Bike Night ever!! See you there on Thursday. See details below. Click Here for
Photos from the first night
And most of all, please ride extremely Careful AND Sober. This
is the time of year that we all cringe when we hear that a bike has gone down.
Ride extra defensive, and if you have been over served, do us all a favor and
don’t ride at all. Think about your friends and loved ones before getting on the
bike impaired. We’ve all lost too many friends this way. There will be plenty of
cabs available. Discount Cabs number is 602-200-2000. Put it in your phone.
Tidbits and Updates:
Everyone that has a motorcycle coming due for licensing is
wondering about the emissions testing. Originally it was supposed to have
already been done by now, but with any bureaucratic endeavor, timing is not
always and exact science. I will pass on to you below the last correspondence
that I have gotten on this subject.
Hi Everyone,
Brothers and Sisters, I am sorry it is taking so
long for this. But, it is supposed to be on the Federal Register, permanently,
within 2 weeks. This is the latest word from ADEQ. The Register said they couldn't read the first one, so ADEQ sent
them another one, WITH the Secretary of State's signature... They said it was
too dark! So ADEQ sent them another one around the end of last week. This one
should go through. As soon as it goes on the Federal Register, THAT is the date
that we need. As soon as it is placed on the register, we have 60 days from that
date. And it is in affect. Right now we are looking at, the middle, to the end
of June. But, don't forget, That is subject to change. With all we have been
through with this, We are watching and hoping this is the end.
Hang in there. We can definitely see the light at
the end of the tunnel.
