Cyclerides.com Weekly Update
4/7/10

Greetings Riders,

Have you ever been looking forward to something, discussing it with your friends, waiting for the day to come, and when it does, you say "Oh Crap", is that already here? Well, that is kind of where I am at right now. I have been looking forward to Arizona Bikeweek, but now that the start is hours away, I know that I am likely going to be pretty busy for the next 10 days. This year to lessen the obligations a bit, I have decided to not have a booth at Cyclefest and just enjoy the festivities with the rest of you. I will be riding around to a lot of the events with camera in hand to share the activities with those who can't make it. So if you run into me along the way, be sure and say HI and get your picture taken for the Cyclerides.com Arizona Bike Week Picture Gallery.

For us in the valley of the sun, Arizona Bikeweek is the biggest motorcycle gathering of the year. So it is likely that a lot of you reading this now will participate in at least one event along the way. The events at ABW are so extensive this year that I am not even going to try and list everything in the newsletter or individually on Cyclerides.com. They have done a nice job this year of organizing the ABW site in an easy to navigate tabbed arrangement that you can go to for each day to see what is on tap for you to do. Click the following link to go to the ABW Events Page, then just click on the day that you would like to participate. Some of the non ABW events are listed on Cyclerides.com April Event Calendar. You can see what else is going on there.

Combined with hosting 3 Cyclerides.com Bike Nights this week and next, along with the Bikeweek activities over the next 10 days, chances are the newsletter editorial next week will likely be condensed. But I will do my best to bring you all that I can. As a lot of you know, technology advances have been great over the last couple of years and I am taking advantage of that as well. Another place for you to stay current with Bikeweek activities will be on the Cyclerides.com Facebook page. I will be doing Mobile Picture Uploads and updates all along the way. So if you are not able to participate, I will be your roving, or should I say, ROLLING reporter. Just bookmark this page and check it often. http://www.facebook.com/cycleridescom

Even if you do not have a Facebook profile, you can still view all of the photos, video and comments on the page. If you are on Facebook, Join 2200 others and Become a Fan to add your comments about your ABW experiences. Should be a fun place to interact and see what others are doing.

Wednesday Night!
Cyclerides.com Bike Nights this week should be good. We will have Live music on the street at the Cyclerides.com Downtown Scottsdale Bike Night featuring SAL CARLINO, a crowd favorite at the Hideaway on weekends. Even though the weather has not been the best for this night yet, I really like this venue and think that it will grow into an excellent place to cruise to on Wednesday nights with Live Music on the streets. Weather is going to be good, so ride by and see us this Wednesday night and listen to the Sal Carlino band while grabbing something to eat at one of the 4 Craftsman Ct. restaurants. ACME, Dos Gringos, Upper Deck and Whitehouse.

Thursday Night!
Westgate Bike Night with Cyclerides.com has been fantastic this season. More bikes than you can count and loads of fun. This Thursday night, ride into Coyote Blvd, enjoy the surroundings of the "Times Square in the Desert" and meet NASCAR favorite Kurt Busch. He will be signing autographs and have his show car on display in center court. This will be a big night. His NASCAR show car will be rolling in at 7PM. Should be another fun night.

One last thing before I sign off this week. This is where I put on my parental hat to remind everyone to ride safe and to be mindful of how much you have had to drink before you get on your bike. Remember, it is not "un-cool" to be seen with a water bottle in your hand later in the evening before your ride home, it is smart. DUI laws are really tough and not worth the risk. And worse yet is the chance of being banged up. Also, Cagers are not going to be used to all of the bikes that will be on the road for the next 10 days. This puts defensive riding squarely on our shoulders to remain safe and to make sure that they do not screw up. We will all have a good time, just make sure to ride smart, take care of yourself and your riding buddies so that we are all around for next year.

Have a great week. Look forward to seeing you all at some point along the journey.

Barry

Bike Nights This Week

Tuesday

NEW!! Day Changed to Tuesday.
Cyclerides.com Downtown Chandler Bike Night. LIVE MUSIC This Week with J.D. Madrid.
For the riders in the Southeast Valley, the Downtown Chandler Bike Night is back on! This year, the night for motorcycles in Chandler changed. It is now on Tuesday nights. The really good news is that the road will be blocked off for motorcycle only traffic which will make this a much more safe and enjoyable event. Thanks to the City and the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership for making this happen. Once again we will have vendors, music and participating bars and restaurants for you to enjoy. I will bring more details to you as I get them. Downtown Chandler is located just 5.5 miles South of U.S. 60 on Arizona Ave. adjacent to Dr. AJ Chandler Park. (MAP) Bike Night will be from 6pm - 10pm. Look forward to seeing all of you back again this year!
Great Crowd last week!

Wednesday

Cyclerides.com Downtown Scottsdale Bike Night. LIVE MUSIC On The Street with Sal Carlino from The Hideaway.
I think this is going to be a great venue for bike night as we fill the streets with vendors, music and bikes.
For those of you on the East side of town, you have not been forgotten. This is something that I have wanted to do for a few years, and it is finally happening. I will be starting a new bike night in Downtown Scottsdale on Wednesday nights. Many of you might remember a few years ago when Arizona Bike Week had the Tuesday night party on Craftsman Ct. in Downtown Scottsdale. We will be re-creating that great party by blocking off Craftsman Ct. between 3rd Ave. and 5th Ave., just West of Scottsdale Rd. each Wednesday night for motorcycle only parking. This is the same location as the Downtown Scottsdale Block Party.

Four bars and restaurants on this street will be participating in this event with Bike Night specials including:
Upper Deck Sports Grill,
Dos Gringos,
Whitehouse and
Acme Bar & Grill.
Three of these places have outdoor patios and are set up perfect for a bike night. Plenty of trees and a nice ambiance around. We will have LIVE Music, vendors, food specials, drink specials and plenty of plenty of fun as we head into riding season.

The Weather is Supposed to be 80 degrees and sunny this Wednesday.
This would be the perfect time to give the Cyclerides.com Downtown Scottsdale Bike Night a try. Live Music!

Special Thanks to Hacienda Harley-Davidson in Scottsdale as our first sponsor of this event. Be sure to stop by their display to see the latest in Harley-Davidson and Custom motorcycles.

If you would like to be a Sponsor or a Vendor at this event, email me at info@cyclerides.com. Should be a great place for a Wednesday night bike night in Scottsdale. Click Here For Information Page and for New Photos of the street, restaurants and an aerial view. Should be fun!

Most bikes don't run as good as they can. Especially new ones. Have you unlocked your bike's performance potential?
Ask yourself these questions:
Is your bike running hot? Does your bike pop on decel? Do you get poor fuel economy? Is your bike lacking in power?
Is your bike hard to start? Does your bike have flat spots during acceleration?
Have you had engine upgrades performed and didn't get the expected results?

If you have answered yes to one or more of these questions read on. All of these are common problems and can be solved with one simple solution. Dyno tuning by an experienced tuner.  Not all dyno tunes are equal. At Trask Performance we have been pushing the performance envelope for the past ten years and have become the Southwest's premier performance center for Harleys. All of our maps are custom built for your motorcycle, we don't use pre-made maps. We tune front and rear cylinders independently to ensure correct fuel mixture and ignition timing. This ensures your best performance and fuel economy.  Building maps this way takes time and ensures that you are getting the best possible results for your money. We do it right the first time. Guaranteed. We are so sure we can help you, that we are offering Cyclerides.com readers a FREE Performance Dyno Evaluation on your bike, a $75.00 value. Click Here for Coupon. If you need a Dyno Tuning, we are offering Cyclerides.com readers $50.00 off a complete dyno tuning. Click Here for coupon. Call 623-879-8488.
