Cyclerides.com
Weekly Update
3/3/10
Greetings Riders,
Ahhh! It is finally March. Could be
one of my favorite months of the year, because this means we are on the doorstep
of some of the best motorcycle riding of the year. We will soon
start seeing temps in the high 70's and low 80's and with all of the rain we
have had this spring, the desert should soon be bursting with green on the
mountains and yellow wildflowers. I can hardly wait. Two of my favorite
routes for wildflowers are the road to Bartlett Lake and the route to Tortilla
Flat. Both excellent rides for wildflower viewing near the valley area.
Another reason I like this time of
year is that the evening riding weather will start getting good and bike nights
will start to pop up throughout the valley. One popular bike
night will be starting again soon. In association
with Cyclerides.com, the much-anticipated Westgate Bike
Night returns to the Fountain Plaza
March 18th, running until June
24th, every Thursday from 5-10 pm. I'm sure a lot of you made the ride to Westgate last year
to experience the lights, video and action at Westgate City Center in
Glendale next to Jobing.com arena. If you haven't been there, make plans to take
a ride and be a part of this one of a kind bike night in the West
Valley.
This year we will feature guest
Motorcycle Builders, Live Music, Motorcycle Video Programming on the giant
30'x50' video screen, Restaurant Specials and PLENTY of Eye Candy as well. Over
1000 motorcycles made their way through Westgate City Center every
Thursday night last year with 1500 showing up to close out the season on the
last night. All riders are welcome, every brand was represented last year. But
you don’t have to have a bike to enjoy the show (or the specials). So join us
for our second season of Westgate Bike Night. We guarantee it’s a good
time. Save the date,
Thursday, March 18th to ride to Westgate City Center for the opening night. We
also have a very special guest and presentation for you on March 25th as
well.See you there! Click Here for Details and photos from
last year.
Another reason my blood starts pumping a little
extra this time of year is that Arizona Bike Week is now just a
little over a month away. I don't care who you are or what you ride, it is just
cool to see all of the bikes on the road throughout the valley during Arizona
Bike Week. All of the charity rides, parties, events and things to do and see
make for a great week for the motorcycle enthusiasts for sure. This year, ABW
moved the date back a couple of weeks so that they didn't compete with NASCAR. A
good idea. Pre-Rally days start on April 9th, with Cyclefest at Westworld
opening on April 14th.
I had asked Arizona Bike Week to send me some
bullet points so that I could write up a little overview of
the festivities that you could look forward to. But they did such a good job in
putting it together, I am just going to print it as it was given to
me.
Arizona Bike Week 2010
Update:
March 3rd, 2010
Arizona Bike Week 2010 is just
over five weeks away and it's shaping up to be quite a party.
Starting April 9th are some of the biggest pre-rally bashes ever. Chester's
Harley Davidson will be throwing their fourth annual Backstage Biker Bash
featuring Jackyl on Friday night and The Marshall Tucker Band Saturday. Hacienda
Harley Davidson will be having their annual Kick Start Party, Friday night. And
Buddy Stubbs Harley Davidson's annual Biker Bash featuring Harry Luge Jr. is
Saturday night. These are just a few of the rockin' parties going on around town
during pre-rally days. Check azbikeweek.com for a complete
list of events.
Starting Wednesday, April 14th,
Cyclefest opens and WestWorld in Scottsdale is THE place to be! The entire site
has been redesigned this year to make it the best event yet. Everyone who's
anyone in the biker world will be out there. In addition to all the hottest
vendors, there'll be a huge array of entertainment and activities throughout the
venue. Whether you want to see the latest in parts and accessories or try your
aim at dunking a scantily clad girl in some cold water, there's something for
everyone.
Arizona Bike Week continues to
work hard to go easy on your wallet. Cyclefest tickets are just $50 online for a
week long pass or just $18 online for a single day pass. That price gets you
into all the daily activities plus a concert each night. This year's lineup is
bigger, better and more diverse than ever, with the addition of ABW's first ever
country star. In the true "go big or go home" fashion that is Arizona Bike Week,
it's not just any country star but the hottest young act around, Dierks
Bentley! You rockers don't have anything to worry about though. You
haven't been forgotten. Vince Neil will be there pounding out all those classic
Motley Crue tunes, as well as Ratt and George Thorogood and the Destroyers. You
can see all these headliner acts plus all the hottest local bands for just fifty
bucks online at azbikeweek.com!
The number of tent camping and
RV spaces has been doubled in response to last year's early sellout. This offers
an economic and safe way for Arizona Bike Week patrons to enjoy all the
festivities without having to worry about getting on two wheels at the end of
the night. Visit azbikeweek.com to reserve your
spot today!
So there you have it, Arizona Bike Week is
ramping up and ready to roll. I for one am looking forward to
getting out and enjoying the week. I will have more details each week to
keep you up to speed with what will be going on and what not to miss.
Would you guys like a little preview
of the Miss Arizona Bikeweek contestants? Or you girls, why not try
out? Thursday, March 4th, Arizona Bike Week will be at
Billet Bar from 7-10pm for the
Miss Arizona Bike Week signup party. Come support the girls, hang with
friends and enjoy the fun. The Billet is located in Old Town Scottsdale at 3752
N. Scottsdale Rd.
